THE GOOD: Impressive Graphics Superstar commentary and announcer voicoevr New legends like Andre the Giant and Bret "Hitman" Hart Challenge mode Create a belt and PPV. Parking Lot Brawl match added
THE BAD: No commentary comes from you in season mode and announcer and superstar voiceovers are lame and repetitve. Create mode is very lame as well. No Women's title or Tag Team Championships. No Lita!? That is a big put down to me. Legends not playable in Season mode.
SUMMARY: Let me first break it down from the points in all the other games of the series.
The first Smackdown ! game was the start of it all. It had the Hell In A Cell, Casket match, and great superstars and moves. The create mode was not well conceived because your options were the superstars appearences. The season mode was quiet and it was rare for the supertsars to say anything.
Smackdown! Know Your Role was not much of a difference...
THE GOOD: -Challenges -Clean & Dirty Meters -Online Mode -Voice-Overs -Commentary -Weapons -Create-A-Belt -Graphics -Create-A-Wrestler -Create-A-PPV -Parking Lot Brawl -Royal Rumble Meters -New submmision meter -Better Legends -A new, better Introduction -Small things like taunting without calling in your partner in a tag match -Belt as a weapon -Weapons cause more damage -New, real music
THE BAD: -Season Mode, very repetative! -Only two matches online! (bra and panties, single) -No W/L/D Record Online -Small Roster -No Legend Season -Countering -Only one backstage area -No expression in voice overs -Not many improvements over HCTP -At times the game feels like more work than fun
SUMMARY: I'll start with the good things first. Well, the most hyped features in this game have been Online Play, and Voice overs. The voice overs, well... they're crap....
THE GOOD: [1] Graphics - Pretty good graphics in the game, that was one of the changes I was able to spot as the first thing in the game. The faces os wrestlers are more detailed too.
[2] Gameplay - The gameplay in the game is much better, obviously now, beating a wrestler requires quite a lot of skill and technique, it's not like in the old days that you just do a few moves, use your special and boom your opponent is beaten. Now you have to increase your skills and even technique for blocking and defense.
THE BAD: [1] Too much similar to HCTP - There haven't been many changes in the game at all since the last release of HCTP. Only one new match has been added, and a few new wrestlers, and thats just it. I would rather go and play HCTP instead of buying Smackdown vs. Raw.
[2] Season Mode - The Season mode to me is just crap. It was a huge disappointment. Firstly, the story lines are crap. The Cut scenes are crap....
Beatiful Graphics. Everything Flows like clockwork, and in so much detail.
Better entrances, all music updated, save for a hiccup here and there.
Better Legends. Nice to see the Hitman back, along with the REAL Roddy Piper among mentions.
THE BAD:
....Gameplay is pretty much identical to HCTP. Only improvements are a shoving match and spanking meter. Wow.
Roster sucks. A LOT of commendable superastars were left out of the game, for reasons unknown.
Only one new match type? Parking Lot Brawl? Come on, THQ/Yukes can do better than that -_-
Season gets repetitive, even more than HCTP!
Cruiserweight, Women's, and BOTH Tag Team titles are left out. What in the blue hell is wrong with Yukes...those 4 titles make up half of the total amount of belts on TV.
Online bites. You can only do singles 1 on 1, when the fans thought they would get Armeggedon Hell in a Cell Matches, Ladder/TLC, Cage,...
THE GOOD: There are few things that are good in this game. This is all I can think up:
Slightly improved graphics
Create A Belt
Create A Pay Per View
Tweaked Create a Wrestler Mode
Decent Soundtrack
Voice-overs
THE BAD: Augh, this game, in my opinion, was COMPLETELY awful. It is, literally, SmackDown! 5 with a new name. The gameplay remained the same, the weapons disappear after a few hits, and the season...AUGH! You will have to check detailed comments about the season. All in all, I was disappiointed from this game the minute I got back from Blockbuster.
SUMMARY: Geez, where do I begin?
Well, when I rented this game from Blockbuster, I truly was not expecitng much. Any good games that they could have had were out. So, as I was scanning the shelves, it looked at is out of 10 boxes, all but one were on the shelf. There was a warning sign that danger was ahead. Sad thing is, I can't go 6 days...
THE GOOD: Improved Legends Graphics Royal Rumble meter Heel/Face meter New submission system Weapons in HIAC Create mode slightly improved New charisma stat Entrances Create-a-PPV/Title Belt Pre-Match Mini-Games Less clipping issues PPV Movies in colour
THE BAD: Music Small roster Online Half the titles are missing Crappy box art Short, boring and repetitive season mode Voiceovers Not much to unlock Only one backstage area No end of match celebration No feeling in voiceovers Divas Still some clipping issues and glitches Commentary Legends can't be used in season Roster can't be adjusted Not many attires Most matches exactly the same as in HCTP
SUMMARY: This is the 6th game in the Smackdown! Series, the 3rd one on the PS2, I'm just mentioning this to let you know that they (THQ and Yukes) have had plenty of time to listen to custom feedback and improve...
THE BAD: -Season Mode (It wasn't too great, wasn't too bad) -Lag Online -No W/L/D Record Online -Small Roster -No Legend Season -Countering
SUMMARY: I love playing the game, I'm a huge fan of the WWE SmackDown! series. This game was a little disappointing compared to the earlier editions, although there were a lot of good features included this time round. I would have liked to see a Buried Alive match in the next game, because that would be excellent and I thought it could have been introduced to WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW. But enough of what I want in the next one, I'll start talking about this one, which I haven't stopped playing since purchasing it. I finished...
THE GOOD: Online capabilities, create-a-pay-per-view, create-a-championship, better storylines, 6-man tornado tag team elimination chamber match, parking lot brawl, better legends this time around, dirty/clean meters, ultra heavyweight weight class, 40% increased polygons, more realistic create-a-wrestler mode
THE BAD: Few superstars in roster, slower moves, fewer belts (only world, wwe, us and ic), small selection of matches in online (Bra and Panties and Singles).
SUMMARY: This game has more pros than cons and seems a much better game than Here Comes the Pain, fewer superstars is not a problem to me because of the more advanced caw mode, I will be using the cab and cappv modes alot as well as the season mode, loads of people have flamed the game but, there is no point, simply don't buy the game, in my opinion this is one of the best (if not best) wrestling games in its Smackdown series, I like this game alot and I hope you enjoy it!
THE GOOD: - Great amount of detail on each wrestler - legends are more legit with entrance music and moves - creat a title belt to compete with friends.. - great presentation which is what WWE is all about
THE BAD: - less roster than Here Comes The Pain? - the season mode is less depth compared to HCTP - horrible loading times - women wrestlers need more options
SUMMARY: So SvsR is the latest installment to the Smackdown engine series that has been going forgoing now in the Playstation world..
Honestly when i heard about the announcement of the title alone, i was excited, i mean damn, the Smackdown series gets a huge improvements every year so there is always a reason to look forward to the game every year..
So when i finally got the game, i couldn't wait so i got home right away and popped in the game on my Ps2, needless to say, just like your average Ps2 game, loading can definitely take awhile (or seem...
