Zone of the Enders: the 2nd Runner | 5.0 0 comments |
by Aumaan Shadow from , , | Dec 18, 2003 |
THE GOOD: It has awesome graphics, excellent gameplay, cool weapons, superb soundtrack, cool characters, a lot of enemies, a very good story line and more.THE BAD: It is just too short and boring in the biggining. SUMMARY: It is pure genius and made by the best, Konami. Any action lover would love this game. Sadly, it is boring in the bigginig but it gets better and better. Don't listen to those ZOE haters because this is the best game of the year. Of course, It isn't a childrens game(for +13) so it isn't easy to get bored of with the finish-the-game-and-unlock-stuff. It has cool weapons and subweapons like Warping, a machine-gun-like weapon, a gigantic cannon, a powerful beam, a blade, a stuning attack,. And don't take me wrong cuz its short because it has new stuff if you beat the game. This is a game worth buying.

Great game | 4.9 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Very cool! lots of subweapons easy unlock and vs modeTHE BAD: A little short SUMMARY: This game is near perfection. although it is a bit short i beat it on hard mode the day i got it so i reccomend u buy if u want all the secrets and extra missions done. but if u just wanna see the endin i reccomend rent it cause it so short. but this fast paced action game makes that littler mistake look like it doesn't exist. its better than ZOE 1st runner, instead of 3d cutscenes it has anime cutscenes which is very cool. the coolest thing is the vs mode it is very creative. instead of having split screen it uses a on player screen and depending on whose closer to the camera it will chnage to the other player. the story is very intresting and hideo has done another great job with this master piece. this is a hands on must game. ovarall i give it 4.9 a inch near perfection. |

The Best Game Ever Created | 5.0 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Alots of cool Sub Weapons, Cool Anime Cut Scenes, Very Good graphics, Good Cell Shading, Great Enviroments and Smoke Effects, Great Story, Cool Extras and Versus Mode, Keeps you coming for more, Pretty Long Game, Other Versions of Jehuty, and moreTHE BAD: Nothing is bad about the game it is just perfect! SUMMARY: This game truly defines perfection in every way. Whats more satisfying then locking onto 100's of enemys at once and taking them all out or bursting your way across the sky destroying battle ships and watching a train explode in a tunnel with such amazing graphics. This game is truly the best game i ever played and is and always will be my favorite game. The 2nd Runner is the best game and i'll explain. Well first remember the first Z.O.E. it was so short and once you beat it that was it nothing else to the game. Well The 2nd Runner is much longer, harder, and when you beat the game you unlock loads of Extras and goodies along with alot of Frames for Versus Mode. But once you do all this the game doesn't end there you unlock 3 more versions of Jehuty and you can play the game over and unlock even more extras. It truly is packed with fun and goodies and will have you coming back all the time. The anime cut scenes Konami has made in this game bring out the true Mech game feel and really fit the game better. There are some new characters and returning ones you might recognize. This game does involve some strategy during boss battles and all the boss battles will not be won the first time around. This game is truly the best and really a great game to have in your ps2 library and this game will definately not be all beaten in one day of play this game is packed with so much you'll have to play more then a day to get the best records and unlock all the extras. But this game is truly a game that will stay with you a lifetime. This game deserves way more then i just said and derserves way more then a thumbs up its just that great. So if your looking for a great and challenging game with loads of gameplay and extras abd you love Z.O.E. or mech, action games then this title is the one for you. |

Alot better than the last... | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Same great controls with a few tweaks, great graphics I thought it looked alot smoother than the last...gameplay was fast and furious...all in all very good gameTHE BAD: Story is still not long enough... SUMMARY: I mean come on..I know the more detail and graphics you throw into a game design the less you can put on a disk...If there is a problem that they can't fit anymore on the disk put it on two dvds instead of one...make it very long and engulfing...come on Hideo...we are waitin for some long running zoe games but not seeing it...I guess we will have to wait until the PS3 come's out to see some longer zoe games...but this game is very good and I highly suggest it to anyone...Game is highly detailed...remnance of metal gear...You notice Hideo's work as soon as the first screen pops up...zoe is a work of art more than a game...Keeps you goin though....Hideo, I'M STILL WAITING FOR A LONGER ZOE.... |

THE GOOD: Great graphics, gameplay, and musical score. Amazing variety of special weapons, ALL of which are actually useful.THE BAD: Game difficulty is a little high for me and it's a little short on levels. A little TOO much like Metal Gear Solid series. Awkward targeting system. SUMMARY: I'll make this short, I really liked the game and it will end up as a keeper but I have some issues with it. Here's a synopsis of what I thought was Good, Bad, and just plain Ugly.
BAD
The games difficulty is a little extreme in some parts. I found the last battle easier than the fight with Viola in the tunnels. I guess this can be a good thing if you like a good challenge, I just went a little nuts trying to get through some parts.
It's a little too much like Metal Gear Solid. Don't get me wrong, I think Hideo Kojima is pure genius but the way the story plays out has no variety from Snakes story. For example, the cockpit conversations are exactly the same as MGS' CODEC conversations. The storyline is fast paced but is no different from MGS, same general layout: Two members of a former unit clash and somehow a military babe gets caught in the middle. Nohman = Liquid, Dingo = Snake, Ken = Meryl/Raiden's chick, Viola = Dead Cell/Fox Hound. I hope the next one will have the same action but a little more variety on story.
I didn't like the camera angle setup, especially on some levels where good vision was critical (like escaping the fire pit). You can get really screwed over because of the angles and it just makes it more frustrating.
The targeting system could have been better. I like how you could take off the target but it kind of nullified the point of doing so because you would just automatically target the next guy. It's a pain when dealing with multiple enemies and you can't switch over fast enough or get the one you want.
GOOD
Nice job with the cell shaded graphics, from start to end there wasn't a single level that did not impress me.
While some levels are short, what you do get to play is amazingly cool, like partaking in a battlefield filled with other mechs or taking out massive gunships. This was no doubt the strongest point of the game, each level you played seemed to just get cooler than the one before.
Musical score is excellent. Audio is pretty important to me and I found this game delivered very nicely. Each track matched very well to the level you were playing, it was pretty much movie quality.
Very nice options. From mini-games to extras to vs battles, ZOE 2 has a lot to do after the game's done.
Voice acting's half decent... for a game. (or maybe I've watched too many poorly dubbed anime shows to tell the difference). The artwork is great also, I expect to see a few avatars and banners made from this game.
UGLY
The fact how each Orbital Frame was gender based in design. Ken and Viola both had mechanical boobs while every guy's frame was... somewhat anatomically correct (but very exaggerated!!). I couldn't see the point of this and it kind of made the game a little cheesey.
As you can see, I gave this game a good rating overall because the pros far outweigh the cons. At the very least I recommend this as a rental. |

Oh snap! Finally a good anime inspired mech game! And its not a Gundam clone! | 4.5 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Celshaded graphics. Fast Paced Combat. Lots of extras when you beat the game.THE BAD: Too damn short! Dialogue sounds like its from a Godzilla movie Raiden from MGS2 is in it![just kidding] SUMMARY: Welcome to the Second Runner, a much improved sequel from its predecessor, Z.O.E. The action is lightning fast, the graphics are beautiful, and the story is decent enough to keep you playing.
You are Dingo Engret. A missionary runner with an unfortunate name. Dingo finds Jehuty on a snow planet, and is attacked by Ardjet, an orbital frame piloted by one of Bahrams members. Dingo is an Ex-Barham member, and he is killed by Nohman, leader of Bahram. He is revived by the sexy Ken Mandaris. But the only way for him to survive is that he must stay inside Jehuty, since it powers him up. So the adventure begins. Expect blazin' combat, and meeting up with some familiar faces(Leo Stenbuck, runner from the first game). I recommend this game for every PS2 owner out there. It's an amazing game. Good job Hideo Kojima. |

Lightning fast mayhem.... | 5.0 0 comments |
by Wanderer from , , | Apr 20, 2003 |
THE GOOD: The graphics...are insane...best I've ever seen, the multiplayer and the replay option, there's no end to the Jehuty fighting Raptor killing goodness...Surprising fact...Multiplayer is only on one screen but...it's perfect...try it for yourself. A well planned and compelling story line...THE BAD: Well of course your hands getting tired from Multiplayer such fast gameplay...may get dizzy... SUMMARY: The graphics are highly detailed from Jehuty to the surroundings...such as the first stage Callisto...you kill a raptor..fly through the explosion...boom smoke trail fire into snow caps...they collapse like an avalanche...in such wonderful detail from weapons fire...to close range combat to even explosions...and throwing enemies into another to make even larger explosions...wonderful visual treats for the eyes...as well as grabbing objects to hit or throw at the enemy...or perhaps using the enemy itself as the weapon...NO END TO THE FUN AND MAYHEM! Screw it if it's too short...this is possibly the best game you'll ever play... |

THE GOOD: Unique gameplay, stellar graphicsTHE BAD: Cut scenes tend to drag on, actual gameplay is quite short, controls are strange SUMMARY: As we've come to expect from any game with Hideo Kojima in the credits, Zone of the Enders 2 is heavy in detail and rich in story. Skip through the well-animated cut scenes, though, and you're looking at only about four hours of game time, tops. Of course, if the game was any longer, the story line would get uber-corny. At least he got rid of that whiney kid from the first Zone of the Enders. Sort of.
As in his other games, though, Kojima provides a rediculous number of extra missions and unlockable knick-knacks after beating the main game. Though it's tough to sit through more than five time-attack missions at once, it's nice to know you can fire up ZOE2 if you have a half-hour to kill.
Chances are, most people will get the same amount of enjoyment out of ZOE2 as they did from the first Zone of the Enders or the Metal Gear series. If you like to watch your movies and not play them, though, you might get frustrated with this one. |

by MechDave from pembroke pines, fl, usa | Mar 25, 2003 |
THE GOOD: Everything!THE BAD: none at all. SUMMARY: This is the definitive mech combat game! Great graphics, awesome effects, mechs that kick ass, and movement that finally pays tribute to true anime!
I loved being able to either take out swarms of enemies at once from a distance, or diving in and having 'anger management' with the blade. Sweet story and killer vs. mode, plus xtra missions that make you one with your mech. They had better make a damned sequel, cuz this one rocked. |
