THE GOOD:
The one time gimmicks such as grabbing a missile in mid-air and lobbing it back.

Not much else I'm afraid

THE BAD:
A lot

SUMMARY:
I shall begin with saying, the film adaptation is great, the game however is not.

A great concept, great ideas but very poorly executed. You are introduced with very badly done CG sequences to start you off in the missions, unfortunately if you have seen the film first you will know how much the sequences are lacking in telling you what goes on and how things pan out. Fair enough, make a game with different outcomes to the film but I lost on what the heck was going on most of the time and I hadn't even started playing the game yet.

This brings me to one of the awful concepts, one that is highly repeated and wants you to commit suicide. The missions are more or less timed missions with a certain amount of enemies to kill. For example the first mission gives you a time limit of five minutes and forty five seconds with a kill goal of seventy. First timers are going to want to get used to the controls. (oh I got twenty paragraph rants on this soon enough) The time limit isn't mandatory but it does come in as a bonus at the end of the mission.

The graphics, for a PS3 game I expected better...way better. The city is your best bet for decent graphics but even then it is the odd shimmer from a wave and "oh look skyscraper" *smack*. The rest of the areas are bland and ironically enough the desert areas are just...well sand. So much for Ironman on next generation graphics.

Ah the controls, the letters W, T and F go together quite well in this section. We are talking a major bodge job with no alternative choice except "invert" the axis, not even any use of the PS3's Six Axis motion. When flying you feel like you're constantly going around a "loop-de-loop" rollercoaster with no way off until you realise you have to be sensitive with the left analog stick. Sure going fast in a straight line is fun, even turning and such but it gets irritating when dodging fire from the ground and air with no ability to control the suit you are flying without resorting to simply letting go of the controls and letting Ironman slam down into the ground.

Infact the first three missions I simply ran around on the ground shooting missiles and that weapon he has in his hand. This brings me to my next bit, the targeting system, no wait they forgot to add that in because there is no targeting system. Well there is but not a modern one where you can choose your target or quickly switch to the nearest threat, no instead you have to suffer with hitting the closest guy or vehicle to you, who is usually the weakest out the group and means while you deal with him, you are heavily being pounded and losing energy and power.

I actually began to lose the will to live after the third mission, the CG sequences that sounded so enthusiastic really kept me going strong, no really. The second rate voice acting sent me to sleep while the only proper actor they got (Robert Downey) sounded like he was half asleep himself.

I really can't stress enough how bad this game is and how much of a shattering disappointment it is. If you want my advice then go see the film and be done with it, but if you insist to play this disaster of a game then I advise you to rent it and not waste the money buying it.
