THE GOOD:
Classic PC styling, challenging puzzles.

THE BAD:
Limited battle control, difficult object placement.

SUMMARY:
With the translation of Alone In The Dark: One Eyed Jack's Revenge onto the Playstation game console, fans of The New Nightmare can get a little taste of the origins of not only the Alone In The Dark series, but the survival horror genre itself. The Alone In The Dark titles gave life to the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill.

This game brings back the classic feel of playing a computer game right to your Playstation. The character design and environment grading is simple, but effective. Obtainable objects are easily identifiable, and puzzles take a bit more thought than the usual straightforward "find the right place to use one object" method. Some dilemmas take two or three object combinations to solve.

The music is entertaining, and manages not to border on irritating despite its bounciness. Excessively dark lighting is not a problem either. Everything is clear and easily recognizable.

Overall, despite problems with the battle system, this game is great for those looking for old-school PC fun and a bit of nostalgia mixed in.
