Amazing PSX Game | 4.0 0 comments |
by ShinyMilotic from Brisbane, QLD, Australia | Aug 13, 2008 |
THE GOOD: - Very fun gameplay and battles - A great storyline - The game will last for ages, good replay value - The range of music isn't to bad - Great graphics for the Playstation - It is challenging at times - A good range of playable and enemy Digimon
THE BAD: - Some bad glitches, you can avoid them luckily - There are a few frustrating parts of the game
SUMMARY: Digimon World is one of my favourite games to ever come out on the Playstation 1, it has got great replay value, and anyone buying it now could still get great enjoyment out of playing it.
Gameplay:
The gameplay for Digimon World is great. You can travel around the digital world, which is fairly large, with your partner Digimon, battling all kinds of Digimon along the way. It is not all easy though, you will need to train your Digimon in the gym and in battles so that it can become strong enough to win battles against some tough Digimon you could encounter. Next to File City is the Green Gym, where a lot of training will be done. There are multiple types of training, including Offence, Brains, Defence, Health Points, Magic Points and Speed, all of which involve a different activity to do to train these stats. Depending on the Digimon you have, some training activities will be more effective then others. The stats your Digimon has when it is time to evolve, affects what Digimon it will evolve in to, as well as care mistakes and battle experience.
The Digimon needs to be fed, use the toilet, and sleep, making the game a lot more realistic, but it can be annoying when your Digimon needs to use the toilet when you are out in the middle of nowhere. When this happens the Digimon poops on the ground, eww. If you do not feed your Digimon, it will end up dieing of hunger. Larger Digimon will need to eat more then others. When your Digimon is tired, if you do not let it rest or sleep then eventually it will end up dieing as well.
You have the ability to scold or praise your partner Digimon, if it does something good, like uses the toilet or takes medicine you should praise it, where as if it refuses to have the medicine or leaves its droppings somewhere where they should not be..
Depending on how well you train your Digimon, it can evolve in to many different things. You start with an egg once your past Digimon dies, and from there you get a baby, it evolves to an in training Digimon which evolves in to a Rookie, which then has a range of Champions to evolve to, and if you manage to train the champion well, there is a chance to get an Ultimate Digimon.
There are many other features in the gameplay, like fishing, controlling a shop and battling.
Battles:
Battling is obviously a major part of the game. The battling is very fun and can be challenging. You can tell your Digimon what to do, or let it battle by itself and choose its next move. You can be strategic, and try and run away from the enemy to waste some time or to get a distance from it to hit it with a long ranged attack. You learn different battle techniques from the gym or from enemy Digimon. There are many different types of techniques, and certain Digimon can only use certain techniques. During battle you can use items to heal or boost your Digimon, or even revive it after it is knocked out.
Graphics
The graphics are good for the Playstation, and if you like good graphics, this shouldn't annoy you to much, it isn't too detailed though. The animation is good, especially the battle techniques and evolution, which are always enjoyable to watch.
Storyline:
You are just a normal kid in Japan, who enjoys battling with your handheld Digimon against friends. You never expected what would come. You are sucked in to your Digimon and wake up in a strange land, the digital world. There are Digimon around you, including your own partner. You have been summoned here by Jijimon, to save the digital world. Digimon have been running wild, and losing their memories, nobody is sure of the cause. Your job is to go and find out what the cause is, and to calm some Digimon down along the way so that they can return back to File City.
Summary:
Digimon is a great game, I would recommend it to any Digimon fan, it has long lasting value and entertainment, and very few negatives to worry about. |

THE GOOD: Musics, game skin and arena system are excellent.Best are graphics,of course.THE BAD: Sometimes game becomes complicated, and you don't know what to do.Also, there are a lot of Digimons, and you can only raise 54 of them. And,this game has a lot of bugs and glitches, sometimes they make your game freeze and can spoil your Memory Card. That's the bad point. SUMMARY: Bandai have a very good job at making this game igimon World.
You can take care of your Digimon-you can sleep it,feed it,and others-and train your Digimon, also you can discover new places with your partner. They are very good.
Also, you can challenge with enemy Digimons, and you can learn new attacks from them. Each place contains different enemies. You will enjoy places:Misty Trees,Freezeland,Beetle Land and more.
At this game, you will face with mini games such as curling, arena and fishing.
There are 54 Digimon that you can raise, and there are 5 digimon stages:Fresh,In-Trainibng,Rookie,Champion and Ultimate.
The game's goal is recruiting all Digimon to File City-That's what Jijmon want from you.
Play and see igimon World is waiting for you! |

Digimon World : One | 4.0 0 comments |

Being able to roam around the Digital World at your own pace and will is a definit plus to this Game. You feel more in control, as you can take many different routes, and make choices which will affect your difficulty, rather than the other World Games which have one strait pathway to follow. The backgrounds are good for a PSX Game, and the sounds are fairly decent as well.
Game play is sometimes a little tricky, as you have to pay attention to your characters needs at all times, which can get anoying when trying to race through an area.
Battling is nerve racking if you don't have good stats. Most of it relys on chance. Your Digimon Character/Partner will move on its own time, all you can do is give directions. If you throw a Healing Item at your Partner, and they get knocked out while it is half way there, the Item will not work and you will lose the Battle unless you have Recoveries. The Attacks are pretty awesome to whatch, for the most part. I haven't seen a single Digimon without a neat looking move.
Raising your Characters at the Gyms, with the help of a Strategy Guide, can be quick and fun. To get the best Partners, you will need more than that, though. The downside is that the redundancy can get on the nerves once in a while. In order to have fun and action, you must suffer through hours of training and disapointments.
The Storyline is good, and there are Mini Quests, Games, and more to do besides the basic Game.
I feel that the creators of Digimon World : One did an excellent job of bringing Digimon from the TV Show and Digivices - into an actual Game. A great start, there will be three more World Games, two Arcade Games, and a Racing Game to follow. Digimon Fans should be happy. Check out my other Digimon Reviews. |

THE GOOD: The Story, The Digimon, The Battle System (a little).THE BAD: Glitches in the game. SUMMARY: Great Game to play if u like digimon a lot. You can train it and get it stronger, faster, smarter, you can feed it when it gets hungry, you can also let your digimon go to the bathroom when it needs to. Your digimon is like us. It has to have its needs. Good game if u want a pet in real life. I love this game. I like the story of the game a lot. Its about a human getting stucked into digimon world and that guy (you) has to save it from a danger. The story gets more intersting once u get deep in the game. Well thats all i have to say. Just got to fill enough space.......................................................................................................,,,, |

THE GOOD: Everything but the.....THE BAD: Horrible glitches Which includes Giromon's Jukebox,Grey Lord's Mansion, etc. SUMMARY: THIS IS THE REAL THING!!!!I've got the digipet...ish digivice before. Now it on Playstation! There's so many things you can do in this game,It's just like having a pet...except pets don't fight battles. You master techniques and fight bosses and enemys.
There are 4 babies,4 in-trainings,9rookies,ALOT OF CHAMPIONS(strong..very strong),16 normal ultimates,2 Megas,3 GS Megas. This game is super, but ,like i said,it has some nasty glitches that can freeze your game so DO be careful.
The Last boss Is so Damn HARD,but if your digimon is strong,it's easy. After finishing the game,Reload the game and continue your quest to destroy Analogman. And you can do fun things like or should i say challenges like obtaining all the 'EXTRAORDINARY' medals. If you need help on the game, check out the faqs or... check out the DMW neoseeker forum!
That's all,Sayonara! |

THE GOOD: This game really tests your pacients & really relies on you as a tamer to tend to your digimon's needs. This is a definite must buy for any fans of the anime series. You feel satisfied. The effort you put into raising a digimon determines how well it will be able to survive, digivolve and fight.THE BAD: There is no mega level & your digimon have limited life span until you progress pretty far in the game. There are some glitches that can be extremely annoying. The storyline is a bit confusing and basic. SUMMARY: Be prepared to sit down for a really long time. Digimon World, to say the least, is very addictive. Not only do you train your digimon, but you must tend to it's every need, whether it be food, using the bathroom, resting, etc. The digimon have a personality basically. Happiness, discipline, it all plays a role in this game. The more work you put in, the better the results. Battle wise, you throw out the commands, and the smarter your digimon is, the better you can steer it to victory. So start playing! |

THE GOOD: graphics is the best sound rated 4 outof5 story is rated 3
the gameplay is 3
THE BAD: the game should contimue with more boss to beat the digimon is too little and the timeming is too slow the digimon city is too small a larger area would be appreciate SUMMARY: the game detail is the best. loading is also fast not like digimon world 2.The sound and the important items are detailed but the angle cannot be cahnged. This is a better system to work with then the pokemon series as it is more realistic. The story is not too creative as it is not original. the area should have monre areas and it would be nice if the digimon followsthe digimonseries too.this game rocks in normalRPG as it is the first digimon series game that is shown in 3 dimension it is really worth your cash |

THE GOOD: The battles aren't random, instead they walk around the screen and you bug them to enter the fight.THE BAD: Taking a crap every once in a while. SUMMARY: Digimon World, the first installment to the now Four game series. Even though they all bombed a bit, this one ain't too bad, but still bad. It's hard to remember, but I think everything was Japanese voices, still English text, but still. This is the only one that has the Baby forms though, which is okay to me. But one thing I hated, taking a crap in a toilet, and if you don't you get evil points. "Bad Digimon, cause you're not potty-trained, you're evil!" I don't get it, but with enough evil, you get turned into a Crap eating Digimon, you can eat your crap. I'm sorry but this is a bad game, if you want to get into the series, start with Digimon World 3, its the only good one in my opinion. |
