The role-playing game todays have changed a lot ever since Final Fantasy VII came out with its superior graphics and many new features. On the other hand, one game called Dragon Warrior VII has opted for a more traditional approach. The graphics in this game are in 3D but they are no where near as flashy or modern as today’s rpgs. Now, if we look at this game for what is worth, we can find one very solid RPG with strong gameplay. The goal in this review is to provide a good understanding of what Dragon Warrior VI is all about, and why you may want to rent it or buy it.
STORYLINE 8/10
The story line of Dragon Warrior VII start of slowly with the main character being a fisherman. The hero of this adventure will go through a tough and challenging adventure to solve the world’s mystery, but in order to do so, the hero and its companion will have to travel through the past... In summary, the story line is non-linear but in the end everything will blend together rather nicely. In my opinion, Dragon Warrior VII doesn’t fall with the all time best RPG story, but it does a very good job.
MUSIC/SOUNDS 9/10
The music and sounds are very old school which is a good and a bad thing. The sound effects will do the trick, but they could have done a much better job. In addition, the music is nicely composed and I found certain music very addictive like the castles theme. The only problem that I have here is that there isn’t enough music in this game, and I’m sure Enix could have composed some more.
GRAPHICS 6/10
The graphics are all 3D and they aren’t too bad. However, Enix could have made more details in the town’s architecture or the characters sprites. Of course, the graphics will look out dated but they will do the trick. Moreover, I really like the fact that Enix has created lots of cities and a really gigantic map, which provide a more realistic sense of the world. In today’s RPG I’m getting tired of having only a few cities to explore, so I truly welcome the extra effort done by Enix.
GAMEPLAY 9/10
I have to say that this game is really worth its money if you consider how much quality hours you can put in it. This game has all the little things that makes rpgs so great with battles, dungeons, cities, storyline and so much more. To be more specific Dragon Warrior VII start of slow with no battles for at least 2 hours which I actually welcome because you know that in role playing games there are lots of battles. The battles are fairly challenging and will require different tactics. For example, certain bosses will require playing the “turtle” by which I mean play on the defensive side and only attack with caution while in other battles the player will feel that a lightning attack is best to take down the boss. Moreover, this game has a job system, which allow the characters to take on classes such as mages, paladin, or even the almighty god hand. Finally, I will warn the gamer that this is long and challenging game but a fun one.
OVERALL 8/10
Dragon Warrior VII is an epic RPG that will take you on a quest to save the world. Although this game has a traditional feel to it, I am confident that many players will find this game refreshing from today’s trend, so yes I would recommend this game to rpg lovers.
The bad things:
*No top of the line graphics *Story line can be too slow at times *Issues with characters living the party at vital time wasn’t exciting. *100hrs of gameplay
The good things:
*Many cities and towns, which give a sense of realism. *Lots of extra things to do. *An RPG that makes you feel like your are the hero *100hrs of gameplay

THE GOOD: Excellent class system, challenging, classic dragon warrior engine and play, and really great storylineTHE BAD: If you can look past the dated graphics an d realize there's more gameplay in these two discs then in ANY of the final fanstay games then there's really nothing bad about it. (actually it's a little slow too) SUMMARY: I've been this game three times already and I still play it to find out little things I missed and I'm still addicted. All signs of an amazing game. |

THE GOOD: a great storyline with diabolical bosses and a lot of cool characters like Kiefer. DW7 will keep you entertained for 80+.THE BAD: Kiefer, the best character leaves the party! ARGH! A lot of experience points are needed and you don't get enough exp. The monsters are corny and too *cute* besides about two or three. The boss and battle music is lame. SUMMARY: If you're a graphic-lover, you'll probably think I'm full of crap about giving this game a 5. but in Dragon Warrior you have to look beyond the graphics and look more into the story and gameplay. |

THE GOOD: Graphics-Great graphics and has a few movies Gameplay-This game will keep you entertained Battle system-Great class selection Storyline- The storyline is great and unique(very fun) Music-Great in someplaces and ok in others. Characters-99% of characters are great to play This game is a must among all rpgers.THE BAD: Maribel gets extremly annoying with her whining SUMMARY: Graphics- The graphics on this game are out-dated but fit this game perfectly. The battle system utilizes the old nintendo version battle system but with an actual background and moves seen clearly.
Gameplay- This game will keep you entertained all throughout this whole game. This game has everything for everyone. Scaling towers, on a pirate ship, going in caves, save towns, using puzzle pieces to get to parts of the world and a great class system.
Battle system- The battle system relies on what class you are and what kind of special skills that class gets or if your a mage you get magic. The battle system is easy to master and the enemies are not to hard in this game. The bosses on the other hand could get the upper hand if your not fighting and getting up you classes. There are a lot of classes to choose from and affect the attributes of the person. Overall this battle system is one of the best and unique you probably will ever find.
Storyline- You start out as a peasant who wants to become a humble fisherman on the peaceful Estard Island, the only land in this world of ocean. Soon you discover an artifact from an ancient land, you soon tear the fabric of time and unveil a new world. You go to past lands and solve their mysteries.
Characters- One of the characters can be very annoying Maribel, who is rich and is very arrogant throughout the story. This story is rich in characters and overall the characters beside maribel you will come to love.
Music- The music in this game fits the areas you are in and fits in greatly with the caves. The music is great in someplaces and ok in other.
This game is a must among all rpgers. |

THE GOOD: The Job System - lots of classes Vast Story line
THE BAD: so incredibly slow - honestly, it could have been faster Finding the right items Graphics Music could have been better SUMMARY: The 7th of the series. What ever happened to 5 and 6? well, at least we got this one. It's a great game that will keep a person entertained. Expect to put in 70+ hours into it. The job system is by far the best of any game that i've played. There are a ton of skills to learn and lots of secrets to find. however, if a you don't spend time searching through every nook and cranny, you'll waste lots of time going through everything you went through just to find one thing. The game puts up a decent challenge, but as you find ways of leveling up faster, it becomes easy. This game isn't for everyone, but it's well worth a try. |

THE GOOD: Whats good here is that you can find it challenging because of the bosses and interesting because of the the mysteries to be solve. And also the great story of the game will complete your world.THE BAD: The bad thing here is that the graphics are at a low quality and the screen will make you dizzy. SUMMARY: This is a great game and probably all ps players will be interested. The only comment that I have is the graphics of this game. |

THE GOOD: Classic Dragon Warrior Gameplay. Even some of the classic monsters such as the Slimes and Wyverns. THE BAD: The music could have been better and some of the graphics as well. SUMMARY: I loved this game. Especially the whole Character class system. The game had a very retro feel to it that made me feel like I was playing the classic trio of the series on the NES. The length of the game was also quite impressive. However, I do feel that Enix could have done a little better with the music and some of the graphics as well. Other than that, awesome game. |

THE GOOD: The game will give you your moneis worth. Great story line, and it is hard to find a game that will stump you. This one will.SUMMARY: Just the size of the game is enough to make you want to through your hands in the air and give up, 80 hours into it and still on the first disk, that is after getting stumped for 2 days. Great game, I give it the highest rateing. |
