Final Fantasy

Princess Sara of Cornelia has been kidnapped by the evil knight, Garland, and the kingdom has no idea how to save her. Until, that is, four strange warriors are seen walking around the town. They are quickly identified as the four Light Warriors of legend, and brought to the King, where they are asked to rescue the princess in exchange for the completion of a bridge to the next continent. It seems that this is enough, and the warriors agree. When they have rescued Sara and the bridge is completed, the four warriors continue on their journey.

Final Fantasy is nowhere near as plot driven as the later games. Much of it is merely exploring, with no real driving force behind your characters until near the end.

Speaking of characters, I'm not sure if the beings in Final Fantasy can be described as such. You have four warriors, and must choose which class they are. There are only six classes to choose from; Warrior, Monk, Red...

FF1.

Way back in 1987, Square were in deep trouble financially and needed to create a game to put Squaresoft's name on the map and save it from obscurity. Their answer was Final Fantasy 1, originally released for the Famicom system in Japan , the NES elsewhere, but recently re-released for the PS1 console. Thankfully there has been a few improvements in the re-released version, namely graphics. The graphics are very clear and bright, both on the world map and during battles and also inside castles and towns and suchlike. The story centres around four light warriors who are called to save the world from the four fiends who've sabotaged four elemental crystals on which the FF1 world is dependent on to survive. These light warriors are the good guys, the characters you control throughout the game. There's very little character development and not much more storyline, the emphasis of FF1 is on gameplay. And the gameplay is tough, FF1 will probably be the hardest RPG you ever play...

THE GOOD:
- Remake
- Better Graphics

THE BAD:
- No storyline
- Main Characters dont talk
- No lv. up system

SUMMARY:
The heart of Final Fantasy. Yes this game is in fact FF1 and FF2 combined into a CD. As old school as it gets, FFO has the classic NES feel to it everytime you play it.

Well you would not believe the difference between the remake of this and the originals. The graphics may be better, but its nowhere near FF8/FF9 quality. We are talking about SNES graphics such as Chrono Trigger, which isn't necesarily a bad thing afterall.

The storyling in both FF1 and FF2 is pretty confusing and a letdown. I guess that Square didnt add anything to the story. Keep in mind that this was made way back in the 80's and the FF series started picking up at the 4th one. You will see and hear many refrences to the others however such as the crystal, guardians and such that have made their appearance in "future"...

THE GOOD:
Good old rememerance of Final Fantasy 1 and 2, much better than the originals, you can run in both games, better looking character development...

THE BAD:
the FF2 stats system

SUMMARY:
Final Fantasy Origins is a game that I love to play whenever I am in an old school mood, Because it consist two really good rpgs for the nes, and remade them into a psx title, changing their persona, you ave better character development, FF1 the classes looked alot better than the nes ones, and thank god they changed the way the screen was...FF2, they added FMV's to it making it a little more involved, but the thing to hate is the annoying build your own levels up, not in the experience points way, but in the tragic way..., but they added something good to the two that helped me out alot, is running, yes running, you can now run in both of the games..yippeeeee....

THE GOOD:
Great game. Better graphics then from it's first release. All in all, a must have for any RPG player!!

THE BAD:
Nothing bad to say about a great game!!!!

SUMMARY:
One of the hardest RPG's you'll ever be faced with. The storyline is great, but if you don't talk to townspeople, you're most likely going to get lost. And hey, what good is a game without a challenge?. Final Fantasy 1 has about 50 - 70 hours gameplay, and FF2 has about the same. Yet if you catch on to them quick, you'll have about 20 - 40 hours gameplay.

(Side note: FF1 has 6 differnt professions you can choose from, which include Warrior, Thief, Monk, White Mage, Black Mage, and Red Mage. And since your party MUST has 4 characters, I suggest playing the game using different professions, and even if you have too, have more than one saved game to try out different professions).

THE GOOD:
A great remake of two classic videogames. Just what the world has been waiting for

THE BAD:
the graphics but hey it was made for nintendo so what are you expecting?

SUMMARY:
I think this is what every true RPG gamer has been wanting, I know I have. The addition of the CG movies adds to the story lines of bothe FFI and FFII. Also the run ability in towns was added, because we are impatient. With the combination of the two games you have almost 50 hours worth of game play(all items, weapons). The only problem with this game is that square decided to keep the old graphics so dont expect your characters dancing during a battle. All in all this is a game to get because being able to find FFI and FFII for nintendo is very difficult(took me almost a year to find a working FFI for nintendo)
