THE GOOD:
Decent graphics for the time
Very detailed attack animations
Some monsters have very funny animations (E.g. A hopper's over-enthusiastic thrusting, a joker going "whatever")
You get a different monster and battle every time

THE BAD:
Can be hard to unlock some monsters
Can be hard at first to raise very decent monsters
Some very annoying monsters (both the enemy and your own)
Some monsters appear on lots of discs and get unbelievably annoying to see
A few people have experienced a problem with the load screen never actually loading but it may just be for their discs

SUMMARY:
This game has a very simple principle, raise and fight your monster to become the best breeder in IMA. The controls are very simple since all you have to do is choose what you want to do, be it train, battle or shop, from a menu. The battle system of this game is an absolute joy to experience as their is no one way...

THE GOOD:
The variety of monsters is very high. The graphics are very good for beeing a PSX game. Very challenging game

THE BAD:
The very repetititve story. The monsters don't last too long. The hard wpork you did goes to the sewers by reaching the year 9999. Some monsters suck. The pixies and jellies may be updated.

SUMMARY:
A very challenging game that consist in a boy/girl that passes the exam on the Monster academy and gets a ranch and a partern. A good gameplay that consist on beating tounaments and vicious foes. Great 3-D animation and good attack graphics.Pretty good filed battles and entrenaining excercises for monsters. Good bosses and very good unlockable solutions. The game have some defects like that the monsters don't last too long, but a very good game. The story needs some adjusting, but I like it.

SUMMARY:
Graphics-4: Great graphics for a psx game. The 3-D look and camera changes and angle changes gives you the feel that your a person cheering on a monster from the crowd. Also when your at the ranch you can see your monster do some unique moves like back flips and flying around the screen, swing swords and spears, it has the works.

Sound-5: The cheer of the crowd around the stadium gives it the real life feel, makes it feel like the people are behind your monster. Boo's when an attack misses and cheers when an attack hits. Real life sounds make this game on of the great feture points.

This is a relatively good game.

Graphics-5:This game has some of the best graphics out there in the gaming world today. Its 3-D animation is unique.

Control-2:Unlike its graphics its control is not something to be proud of. You must constantly mash the control pad to submit attacks.

Sound Effects/Music-5:This game has great sound effects and music. Its digital crowd of cheering fans breathes an uncanny breath of life into the game.

Game Play-4.25:This game is really fun and is not too complicated like some other games. The battle system is very cool and is kind of like a virtual pet like thing. The only bad thing is that this game is repetitive and has no ending.

THE GOOD:
I played this game when I was a little kid and absolutely adored it. Somehow I've managed to remember most of the game up to today. The best thing about this game is there are tons of different monsters to use for your fights, and lots of strengths each one can use to the fullest to become victorious. You can train your monsters in any way you please, and be as harsh, or spoiling as you want on them. The music is nice and always suits the occasion. Also there are nice, little celebrations, and minigames once in a while that make the game even more relaxing. The fighting is always fun, if a bit stressful with the timer and the constant back and forth way the fighting goes. But over all it's just plain fun.

THE BAD:
AS I said, the fighting can feel incredibly stressful, and I always get anxious at the end, even if I am winning, because the only way you win is if your monster has more health left at the end of the fight (or if only one monster is...

THE GOOD:
everything, i preferred this to any final fantasy game. i hired this game out once and played it 2 days straight, only stopping to eat and drink. this testifies to the sheer fun factor of the gameplay which has yet to be matched, even by tekken, final fantasy and sssx tricky. Monster graphics are great, animation is smooth, especially in battles where change of camera angle and the special effects make this truly gorgeous. also, as the game has no end, it has a pretty much infinite lifespan, placing it among the likes of the sims, gran turismo and jade cocoon. but better, especially than jade cocoon. many people dub this "a 3D pokemon rip-off with a gimmick". On the contrary, the original monster rancher came out two years before pokemon, pokemon is the rip-off

us brits have a lot of confusion with the monster rancher series. the example is for this game it is called monster rancher, not monster rancher two so people get the games...

When I first started to play this game when it first came out, I was horrible at it. I dint have patience for my monsters or a training regiment. Now, every day im getting beter at it, and every day it gets more addicting. If you have a little time on your hands, this game could be your all time favorite. I think it costs between $10 and $20 so just get it and try it out.( Now im just gonna type some stuff so i can have 750 characters because i guess i have to)

I cant find anything wrong with this game acept mabey its lack of soryline.

SUMMARY:
I tink monster rancher 2 is one of the top 10 games Ive ever played. Mabey it could use a little more story and some extra features. Mini games would be good, maby something where you controle your monster to do things to gain points or money. The game could look better but it is quite old now.
What I like most about the game is finding things and new monsters. I liked to build up the ranch but I think there could have been more to it. I loved mixing the monsterrs together to see what they would look like.
I realy just wish there were more games like this one Becaus I know every inch of this game already.

THE GOOD:
It wasn't really good.Because every time that you spent hours training your monsters they always wind of dieing then you just get pissed.

Mostly everything.Your monsters die all the time and the gameplay really sucks to.

SUMMARY:
I think that this game was made to give everyone that plays it a temper.It gets you really pissed when your monster dies!And you have to spend hours training it!

THE GOOD:
You really feel as though you're a friend to these creatures. It feels really good when you whomp a particularily tough enemy in battle!

THE BAD:
Monsters don't live long enough. 4-5 years on average which equals about 4-5 hours-a-monster.

SUMMARY:
The first impression of this game is that it is too basic. Here's the ranch, you got the monster, let's raise it. But as you progress you learn that you can unlock various monstrs through battle or adventures. The skill of combining is a refined one and it can be frustrating when two of your best monsters combine to make one really poo one but this all adds to the atmosphere. This game'll have you rummaging around your CD's trying to find a particular monster. Not many were shipped over here to the UK but it's worth hunting around for a new/used copy as this game rocks!
