When I first received Star Ocean: The Second Story as a birthday gift from my aunt I said thank you, but with an unconvincing, fake smile. I wasn't much into RPG's at the time and I had never even heard of this game. But I figured I might as well give it a try, and I thank my aunt every time I see her for giving me such an excellent game.

The game starts off by giving you a choice, one of many that you will have to make throughout the game. The first of your choices is which story you would like to partake in. Either that of Claude Kenni, who wishes for nothing more than to not follow in the footsteps of his father. Or you can choose to play as Rena Lanford, the young but brave girl that travels into the Shingo Forest against her mothers will. Each of the stories are unique but they both tie together as the story progresses. I recommend playing the game through one time for each episode, but that's just me.

Along your journey as either Claude or Rena you meet with...

THE GOOD:
so much to do.... nice character development and a plethora of endings

THE BAD:
some of the on screen sprite animations are a bit weird (like claude and renas running)...

SUMMARY:
gameplay:this is one of the best systems ever... you can make cook build or steal hundreds of things and it has a very straightforward and sensible buildup system too. it also has the bonus of allowing you to level characters up to 250 but it is sadly wasted as they decided that the classic 9999 limiters should be put in place... this killing the purpose of levelling so high.it isnt even usefull for sp as you master everything long before maxing levels outs.this aside it is a great game. it can be difficult if you make it ( like trying to get the mischief item early in the game) but it is plausable and has an extreemly diificult secret dungeon (the whole game is merely training for it). i give gameplay 5graphics:the cityscapes are guite nice. they are the...

THE GOOD:
one of the best games that i have ever played in my life, (that is a bunch)

THE BAD:
nothing

SUMMARY:
i bought this game on a sale for like twenty dollars and it sat there on my dresser for about two weeks with me never playing it then one day i tried and have not put the game down since, if you are looking for a great game then i strongly advise buying this game. and the star ocean 3 is good as this then it will be a great game. i believe that if they would make every rpg as good as this one is then the world would be a better place. and i know this sounds crappy but it is the truth and if anyone has the first one in english and would like to sell it just neopm with the details and maybe we can can to some kind of agreement, thanks or if you have a star ocean 3 in english

THE GOOD:
Game Play, Graphics, Characters, Skills, Story line, everything about it is greeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeat.... and the Battle system is the best part, plus the music is really good

THE BAD:
The little amount of FMV's

SUMMARY:
This is by far my favorit rpg of all time, well this and Final Fantasy Tactics, but this game has it all, the music and battle system are my two favorite things about this game, Battle system was free, you could move where ever you wanted attack what ever you wanted it was great and if you were Claude you'd have a set skill buttons to use in battle..and the music is really great I love the forest song, with the harps playing it is such a beautiful song...story was one of the best put together, the characters were another good thing, Rena, Claude, Ashton, Celine, Leon and Chisato were my favs. of em all, they had good attacks and that such of stuff..

THE GOOD:
Very great battle system. Gives more freedom and interest to battles.

THE BAD:
Semi-Decent graphics. Not many people have played it.

SUMMARY:
Probably one of my favourite games of all time. It's just sad that not many people know about it. The game takes place in a universe where space travel is normal and there are many races and species. The battles are intense and give more a feel that you are in the fight. It's not like other RPG's where they just stand there and hit each other. The battle system in Star Ocean: The Second Story allows you to move freely throughout the battlefield and attack whenever you want, adding more realism. The music is excellent with seemingly infinite scores because of options such as Orchestra, not to mention BMG.
The storyline is so vast as there are relations between the character that can change depending on what you do. There are just so many options in this game you can go through it...

THE GOOD:
Everithing about this game.

THE BAD:
Story may seem a little too short but it's not.

SUMMARY:
If you are ever looking for a good RPG to play then Star Ocean 2 is what you are looking for. This game's battle system is one of the most unique ones that ever existed. You can move freely during battle and attack which enemy you want whenever you want and you can control up to 4 characters. The story is about whoever you pick in the beggining, (Claude or Rena) and the story focuses around one of the two. Instead of having a villain in this game you actually have 10 that you have to defeat and believe me that's only towards the end of the game. The graphics are pretty good for a game this old and each character is perfect in their own way, depending on how you want to organize your party. You can even chose how hard you want the game to get. If you want to get a chalenge and love RPG's then defenetly buy this game.

THE GOOD:
Everything. I explained more of it in the Detailed summary.

THE BAD:
Glitches.

SUMMARY:
First Impression

WOW! Was my first impression to this game. I loved the graphics, for a game that came out in 1999. The intro movie was really cool, it kind of explained how all the bad things started to happen. It also showed the credits. After watching the CG, I was taken to a menu that was quite plain, the background music was awesome it left me with my mouth open. I realized it had something called a Voice Collection, I still didn't find out what that was until much later. I was impressed by the way you can change things around, with all the options. I was taken to a menu which lets you choose between Vibration on and off. Then I was taken to another selection which was sound. Funny cause I dont know much games that can support surround sound, well this game can, and it is awesome, since the music is genius, and passed my...

THE GOOD:
The things I love about this game is that theres a sack of characters to play with and many endings

THE BAD:
the graphics are somewhat off but so what ! its still a good game

THE GOOD:
Great story line, good battle system, it's relatively long and there is a lot to do. Also the multiple endings are nice and make you want to play through it again and again.

THE BAD:
It starts off very slow and the random battles can sometimes be frustrating

SUMMARY:
A nice rpg here but the start is a little frustarting due to the fact you don't get into the action for quite a while. The battle system is quite well done and is quite original. Also the story in itself keeps you hooked and there are some very well done plot lines and characters thrown in. On top of everythign else there are uite a few subquests and secret characters to get and best of all multiple ending depenping on your performance during the game. All in all a Great rpg and a deffinite must own for rpg fans.

STORY: 10/10

The story takes place in Expel mostly where people are worried about a meteor coming and making the planet explode. The only person they believe to be able to stop it is a unknown person called "The Warrior."
But later they find a whole another thing that is about to unravel. And that is just the introduction.

Twisty, lengthy, about 50-hour gameplay, a really good storyline. Perfect. Couldn't be better. You can also unlock a number of voices for the Voice Collection, that is a very fun thing to do.
Plus, there are a total of 80+ endings that you can get throughtout the game...Talk about challenging!

CHARACTERS: 10/10

Perfect. Every character is great that I have played. You can also play two main characters and see there different points of view, either playable character, you get invaluable help from others along your hard journey. There is a total of ten characters that can join your party.
The two main...
