SUMMARY:
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquilty takes place on a foreign island named Waffle Island. It is here that the 5 magic rainbows have disappeared and the Goddess Tree has died, and along with that, the weakening of the Harvest Goddess. One day a lone rancher moves to the island and it's up to that rancher to restore the rainbows, the island, and save the Harvest Goddess.
Play as either a male or a female as you start out fresh in this new land. Choose between three different house plots to live at. (Hilltop, Seaside, or Town) Either way, it's now up to you to start to cultivate the land and work to build and make the best farm ever.
Along the way you'll make friends, raise animals, befriend wild animals, participate in many mini games, and maybe even get married and start a family. All with the ultimate goal though, to save the Goddess Tree and save the Harvest Goddess.
As you progress in the story, more people will move to the island such as potential bachelors and bachellorettes, new stores, and brand new villagers that help to add to the island. But before that can happen...something else must happen first.
As you continue, you might find that one of the bachelors or bachelorettes (Depending on your gender) is starting to fall head over heels for you. Well it's up to you. Who will you marry? Will you start a family? There's a wide variety of choices to choose from and not all bachelors and bachelorettes have rivals so don't feel so rushed, you have time.
But like all Harvest Moon games, you have to die eventually, but this game introduces the ability to play as your child and take over the farm. But this requires the use of a certain item. What is it? That's for you to find out on your own.
This game features many new things that past Harvest Moon games did not feature:
- Two new animals: Silkworms and Ostriches
- Interact with the game by using the Wii-mote
- Befriend wild animals such as cats, weasels, dogs, penguins, pandas and more
- Actually but clothing and change your outfit
- Buy furniture and customize your house
- Let your legacy live on by playing as your child
~Animals and Health~
Like any Harvest Moon game, you are allowed to farm a variety of animals. In this game you have the options of Horses, Cows, Sheep, Ostriches, Chickens, Ducks, and Silkworms. Each one produces a different product of different quality that can be shipped for money. However, should you neglect the animals, like an other Harvest Moon game, they will get sick and if you still neglect them, they will die and as your animals' health decreases, so will your friendship with the villagers. Ways of neglecting your animals include not feeding them, using your tools to hurt them, and leaving them out in bad weather such as rain, typhoons, snow, and blizzards.
~Farming~
The opportunity to farm has returned again with a wide variety of crops, flowers, and trees to grow. So take the Wii-mote in hand and farm till your heart's content. Luckily for you, days of rain and typhoons you don't have to water your crops but typhoons have the ability to destroy your crops, along with Blizzards. Like animal products, the crops have different ranks of quality that are affected by the fertility of the soil. The higher the quality, the higher the selling price.
~Tools~
When you first start out the game, you have no tools but soon after, you receive the hoe and watering can. As for the other tools; sickle, fishing rod, hammer, and axe; you'll have to get those yourself. In this game you can level up in tool skill by using the tool and you can upgrade the tool itself by bringing it to the blacksmith to have it upgraded. A higher skill allows you to do more work and a higher tool grade allows you to use less stamina in the process.
Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility is the best Harvest Moon game to date and proves to be worth the money. (50$ in USA when first released) So now it's up to you...do you want to save that Harvest Goddess? Do you want to save Waffle Island? Are you even strong enough to do this? It'll all be revealed in Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility.
