With a monochrome, black and white graphics and over-the-top violence, Madworld stands out from the crowd of the shovelware that has been filing up the Wii library. With former members of Clover Studios, a developer known for its original games like Okami, PlatinumGames is at it again with one of the most original games this year.

Story

In Madworld, you play as Jack, who is a contestant in a show called Deathwatch. The concept of the show is simple: kill people in gruesome and exciting ways. Madworld is a game that doesn’t really need a good storyline, but it surprisingly does. It goes into government conspiracies and terrorism, and is pretty deep…for a beat em up. To say any more would ruin the fun and surprise.

Gameplay

THE GOOD:
Let's start off with the bizare style of presentation. The game's scenery, background and characters are shown in black and white. There's plenty of red blood in there though and the graphics do not give you headaches and you can always see everything you need to. There is a lot of detail put into the weapons and enemies even with the black and white graphics and it gives you that rough adult feeling when playing.

Another good point to talk about is the soundtrack. The BGM (Background Music) is rather unique because it has urban instruments for a specific area, but at the same time you have a solo rapper singing about the main character and although it sometimes gets annoying it is decent and will fade out as the DJ commentators speak which is also a brilliant feature.
