In this third FlatOut game it feels like developer Bugbear has brought this underrated series into its own, and anyone who's ever laughed with glee at taking down a rival racer in a game of Burnout should be all over it.
It might not offer enough new stuff to make it worthwhile for owners of FlatOut 2, but Ultimate Carnage is still a riotous racer in its own right.
Despite a few quirks, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is an excellent extreme racer that is recommended for most types of gearheads. Those that like to marvel at visual technology will also find FlatOut Ultimate Carnage surprising, as it has come out of the blue (similar to how the original FlatOut did in the extreme racing genre) to become one of the more impressive titles on the Xbox 360 from an aesthetic standpoint. If you like your racing a little on the trashy side (like Confederate Railroad likes their women) and want the resultant wreckage to look good too, FlatOut Ultimate Carnage is your ticket to ride.
