NBA 2K10 is an excellent basketball game that's full of nagging technical problems. It's a shame that some players probably won't be able to look past the inconsistent frame rate, online issues, and A.I. quirks, because NBA 2K10 does many things very, very well. The biggest addition to this year's game is easily its best feature: My Player lets you create an athlete (unless you want to wear number 23 for the Bulls, which is the only no-go) and then puts you on the road to becoming an NBA star. You start off in the summer league, continue on to training camp, and then take a trip to the NBA's development league, where you must prove that you're ready for the big time; it's a long, but ultimately satisfying, grind.
"There are sports games for pretty much every niche in the industry. We as gamers demand the best entertainment for our 60 bucks, and while competition may be fierce, we will likely go with the hands-down best title. The team at 2K Sports understands this simple fact of economy, and have driven themselves to give both casual and hardcore sports gamers the best basketball game money can buy. Will this effort pay off? See for yourself when NBA 2K10 drops October 6."

If you’re a casual fan of the sport, then either title will probably serve equally well. ...

"As with NBA 2K9, Kevin Harlan and Clark Kellogg return for booth duties, and though I've never thought the two had great chemistry before, that's changed this year. Not only is there believable back-and-forth between the two but, more importantly, so much of the commentary is also better tuned to the context of the game situation."
We got a first look at NBA 2K10 and checked out the promising new My Player mode.
