Gameplay - 9.5

This years gameplay is what really makes the game. Perhaps the the feature that contributes most to gameplay is the new AI. Newly improved AI now adapts its game to try to cut of your money plays. Do you pass the puck everytime on the 2-on-1? Well if you do you might want to mix up your strategy because the AI will recognize this and try to cut off the pass. Next, the all new skating engine gives you exceptional control of your player. You can stop on a dime or walk the blue line as a defensemen. The skill stick, which was introduced in last year's version: NHL 07, has also been improved. EA implemented and all new 1-on-1 deke system. As always the left analog stick controls your skates and the right analog stick controls your stick. To perform a deke you hold the left bumper and push the right analog to wear you want to puck to go and the left analog to wear you want your player to go.
