SUMMARY:
I was keen to play this game when it hit the rental shelves at my local video rental. I read reviews saying it was the most realistic motocycle racer to date. Also what got me was it claimed the bike mechanics was highly detailed compared to the ps2 version etc. I said this is one the first game to try when we get hold of xbox. Thats exactly what we did.
Our prayers where answered when we took off for the start and we spun the rear wheel. I said to myself boy this is going to be good! Unfortunately thats the only exitement i got from the game. It turned out to be just like the ps2 motogp arcade mode (which isn't bad). But then the game took a nose dive when i decided to change to manual gears. The way it was set up on the xbox is a complete joke! You have to push right analog to accelerate and push the right analog to change gears...or push the black button to change. What made it even worse you had to press the left stick to downshift or white button. This turn a plain jane game into a complete nightmare. The ps2 was so much simple..all we had to worry about was racing.
Also the bike physics is not very good. I can brake hard with my front brakes into a turn and not lose the front wheel from locking the fronts in the xbox. Also when you accelerate out of a corner and if you a more pwerful bike alot more gas you don't high side (fall off litarally) in the xbox version. This is just a few. I personally don't think motoGP on xbox is realistic at all. Its a major disappointment.
