THE GOOD:
Great replay value, exciting combat system, acceptable lip-synching, fun trading system, fun upgrading system.

THE BAD:
A little too hard at the beginning. Main character is a little annoying.

SUMMARY:
This is an all around great game. However, it's also amazingly hard, so you have to endure. There is an easy mode option, but then you lose the fun. This game has the same feeling as Genma Onimusha, with the same controls and graphics engine. However, there is a new system that steps this game up a notch. You can trade the items you find throughout the game with other NPC's, and then recieve some items that you otherwise couldn't have. There are thousands of things to unlock, and many items that can be collected, however hard it is to find them. There are other characters that are playable, but generally the main character is the best. You make friendships, fight demons, and collect souls to imbue your weapons with extra power. This upgrading system is the same as previous Onimusha games. The graphics are excellent. The cinematics will blow you away, and even the in-game graphics are awesome. There are some thumb-crushing mini games as well, but those are rare.

One of the best things about this game is that it is not a button masher. Every battle is strategic (it's not FFX, but still), with plenty of dodging and blocking. You have to learn the combos of your enemies, and you can turn their attacks against them for a one hit ko (issen). These will give you extra souls to make use of.

This is an all around great game, with a very hard difficulty, outstanding graphics, and many upgrades from its prequel. I rate this game a 4.4, because there's always room for improvement.
