Halo: Combat Evolved

Halo: Combat Evolved was one of the first games out for the original Xbox, and one of the most successful. It combined the environment, weapons, and enemies of a futuristic war with a combination of alien races with the graphics, gameplay, and controls of a brilliantly designed FPS. There are few things that compare to shooting down an Elite, while taking fire from three or four more, or experiencing the feeling of fighting for you life, trying to get off the God-forsaken ring-world Halo. Like any game, Halo: CE has flaws, but thankfully, these are few and far between, and for the most part, easily ignored.

The gameplay in this game is superb. It's easily the best I've seen for any FPS, which is saying something considering I've played (and beaten) over 15 FPS. The AI could use a little work (often the enemies will jump out of cover, making an easy target), but all-in-all it's still extremely well-done. By now everyone should know what Halo is. Even though it was a launch title to the XBOX, it is still probably the best title for it. Many proclaim Halo to be one of the best games ever, if not the best game ever. Unfortunately, it is not. While a great game, it is somewhat overrated.

Developed by Bungie, the makers of Oni, Halo is a first person shooter on a global scale. Instead of your usual crawling through caves, taking out guards here and there, etc., you literally watch wars between different alien races occur. This is a strong point of the game, but unfortunately we were deprived of actually being in those wars.

The graphics are good, but not as good as people proclaim it to be. I do find it annoying when people spew out crap claiming that this game had the best graphics of any game until Resident Evil: Rebirth came out, because it simply didn't. THE GOOD:

This game has great graphics, excellent co-op, smart enimies and is very realistic. The controls are easy to get used to and is overall a very enjoyable game.

THE BAD:
- Time consuming
- Possibly too short

Although this game isn't especially short, because it is so good, you'll feel it isn't long enough and you'll end up replaying it over and over, making it very time consuming.

SUMMARY:
It's realism, great AI and wide variety of weapons and viechels cause this game to be very good. Apart from being a little too short and very time consuming unless you are a hardcore gamer, this game is excellent. Halo was the first game i got for my xbox, and because it was so good i haven't bought buying other games as to risk being disappointed. If you like shoot 'em up games, you'll love this.

SUMMARY:
When Xbox was released back in 2001 I was very excited to receive one for Christmas. I got a few games with it and one of those games was Halo. I first started playing this game at about 1 PM and I continued to play it through the night. I was so amazed on how hooked I was to the story mode. It was just one of those games that you cant put down right away. The once I was done with the story I thought the fun was over until my friends showed me the multiplayer. It is truly amazing when 16 friends get together at someones house, hook up 4 xbox's to 4 TV's, and play Halo all through the night.

This game is a must buy for the Xbox. I recommend this game to all Xbox owners!

THE GOOD:
Excellent story, nice voice-overs, much more. The multi-player is as good as it gets for a game without online play, and the game has Very wide exploring range.

THE BAD:
Look at this game, no online? And the game is Very short. It's maybe a four day game at the most, and although it has different modes you could master them in maybe 2 weeks.

SUMMARY:
Halo...X-Box's evolution. Many people, including myself bought an X-Box for Halo when it had first came out. Halo is an excellent single and multy player game, unless you are looking for online play. The game is short, but has voice-overs. It has a semi-wide vareity of weapons to choose from and wide levels to explore. Master cheif must defeat two races of aliens to free the world and stop the destruction of Halo. I reccomend this game, defently.

THE GOOD:

THE BAD:
-Gets boring if played for to long.
-Gets anoying when you lose at multiplayer.>_<

SUMMARY:
This is a realy good game. Where do I start thats it I will start with 1p mode. Its fun the first mssion gives you a tutorial of the buttons its fairly easy.
I surrgest you start the game on easy mode then work up. Easy normal and hard arn't that hard. But ledgendary takes some time. Sometimes you find yourself in a mission and you will just get so bored. There are fun things to do on levels like look for glitches do the warthog jump. Also I surrgest you play it with a friend it makes it more fun doing missions. Now to 2 player its fun when theres loads of you but when theres 2 it can get boring the multiplayer levels are fun and you can make up your own mode. Overall this is a greta game.

THE GOOD:
Original storyline, awesome graphics, great gameplay layout, multiplayer action up the ying yang, not to mention a wide array of weapons, vehicles, and characters

THE BAD:
No Live (can't blame 'em, it wasn't out yet), and the surface textures were a little weak

SUMMARY:
Halo is the defining game for XBox, and possibly for all FPS games. Not only does it use the XBox grpahics card to its full potention, but it has managed to spawn cult favorites like Master Chief (note my name), 343 Guilty Spark, and Cortana. The storyline is great, and very deep. The two games and three books intertwine to make a whole Halo Universe that captures the player into it.

Halo 2 is a great sequel, but can't compare to the original. The original has so much to do, still. The famous Blood Gulch will always be a classic FPS map, and the campaign mode is just as fun. If you haven't already gotten this game, get it while its hot (30 dollars is a good deal)

THE GOOD:
1. This game is not predicable whatsoever. Just sitting there hearing some Flood scream miles away strikes some fear into you, you know it.
2. Nice storyline, a little confusing from time to time, but it's pretty balanced.
3. The graphics are great, but why wouldn't they be?
4. The sounds are amazing, even the music makes me feel things from fear to ambience.
5. Good maps.
6. Vehciles are ok, I guess. I'm not into many vehciles that much, and you can't shoot from them when they're driving.
7. I have not played MP, so please don't get mad about me not mentioning it.
8. Good varaiety in weapons. There's no one "bad" weapon to use. They are very distinctive, too. I like very different weapons in a game.
9. AI says some funny stuff.
10. I love frags!!!
11. I think 5 different levels of gameplay.

THE BAD:
1. Gets extremely repetetive at times.
2. You are always basically a one man army. I absolutely hate games where...

There is nothing bad about this game, unless ur that gay person that looks at the tiny things like....dumb AI, or repetitive, there is nothing repetitive about it! thats what makes this game fun is the shooting mobs of covenant

SUMMARY:
THIS IS ABSOLUTELY THE BEST GAME EVER, besides halo 2 which is coming out Nov. 9th.

Great graphics, AWESOME STORYLINE, great vehicles, weapons, and the targeting recticle doesnt freakin move when ur firing, it sucks when it does that!!, good thing halo doesnt

I hate how people who just buy the game say crap like, the story is rushed, or the vehicles are too hard to maneuver, or that melee kills are too powerful, or that the pistol is too strong,

THE GOOD:
This is one of the best game storys ive ever seen. the character detail is good. also the multiplayer action is the best ive played for a long time. with the option of having different weapons through out the game can increase or decrease your chance of having good game play. It can also help or hurt you when killing enemies.

THE BAD:
it has very little frame rate problems through out the game. A.I problems

SUMMARY:
If you have an Xbox you better go out and get this if you already havent because you are missing out on a great game.The enimies are the best looking i have ever seen. and with its 4 diffculty settings will increase your chance of better game play.i give this two thumbs way-way up. This is also one of those games where you can play over and over and never get bored. and if you liked this game as much as me, you to are dying to get your hands on Halo 2.
