SC series continues to satisfy | 4.9 0 comments |

THE GOOD: Amazing graphics Light shadow effects Player movement is fluid Good online playTHE BAD: Dull menus Some insanely hard parts SUMMARY: Ever since playing the first Splinter Cell, I have been anticipating the second installment. The first was awesome, with a captivating storyline and fun gameplay. Furthermore, I could download new levels. This second Splinter Cell follows in the first's footsteps very well. Most characters are still around, Sam Fisher is still wearing the famous black suit with night goggles, and the terrorists are at it again. The 17 single player levels are great practice for online play, which definitely defines a whole new genre. The mercenaries vs. spies structure is perfect, and can lead to hours of great fun. Judging by this one, I can assume that SC: Chaos Theory will not dissappoint. |

THE GOOD: Better graphics than the first, that means that they're amazing Bigger areas to explore Cut scenes look like you're watching a film Enemy AI is now mind-blowing The train level is THE BEST!!! In-game jokes Yet again the lighting is awesome and Yet again, a cool story SUCH COOL GADGETS!!!THE BAD: Still can get very frustrating at certain points Still needs more checkpoints more ammo and more guns err....thats all SUMMARY: This improves and revamps everything that was great about the original. Graphics, story, AI, cutscenes etc. are all totally cool. Small things like the ability to confuse your enemies by whistling from where they can't see you is just so funny, and the fast paced train level is f*ckin' the best. I love this game, you love this game, everyone loves this game.
Every Xbox owner should have this game. I've played the third one (Chaos Theory) at Game Stars Live, and its better than the first and second mushed together. Bring on March '05 |

Splinter Cell Pandora When? | 1.5 0 comments |
by Waneman from , , | Nov 8, 2004 |
THE GOOD: The graphics are at least as good as the last Splinter Cell. This I find as a good point considering so many games actually get worse. That UbiSoft is using an advanced physics engine as their main selling point is a shame. There is no deference in this or any other Splinter Cell game.THE BAD: Well, how about the phrase, "You've blown it Fisher!". You'll hear this far too often as your game play is stifled by the pathetic limitation imposed by the unimaginative game developers. "Here's a whole bunch of cool weapons and toys to use, except, you can't have them in almost all the levels, and the levels you can have them in, well, you can't use them because it will break some restriction." I hate when developers make a game that is so annoying to play that would rather watch grass grow then be tortured by the constant reloads and game glitches. This is a crappy installment and not worth a dime. I plan to return the game post haste. SUMMARY: You'll likely read all sorts of reviews masturbating on how great this game is. Don't be fooled. These reviews are from people who don't care how much money they spend and a crappy game. They are just happy to be playing some cheat piece of crap game no matter how bad it is or how much they have just been ripped off.
Take my advice. If you want to play a game that gives you the freedom to truly beat the levels using your wits and stealth skills, find another title. Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow is like one of those Disney course where you drive a car on a closed track with a metal track keeping you on the road. The game "steers" you through each level forcing your to do "what they" want you to do. See a guard and are certain you can sneak past him? Sorry, they want you to do something else. Want to shoot some ass in the head? Sorry, they want these terrorist kept alive. Wow Ubi, what message are you sending here?
So spend the $50 bucks, fire it up and prepare to be ass-mounted. If this is your idea of fun, you'll be on your haunches with ol' Ubi riding you all the way home! Yee haw!

THE GOOD: ~The stealth like game play ~The graphics ~The physics ~The detail to many things ~The cool moves you can do ~The multiplyer (if you have live or system link)THE BAD: ~The enemies make stupid movements
SUMMARY: This game is a must own (especially if you have live or sytem link) as the game makers have added in multiplayer this time round.
The game kicks off straight away (as in the last game there was a training mission). They kind off mixed half of a level with a practice part but you don't really notice it.
The game play is way better this time where there is more action harder difficulty and better levels. As seen in the pictures from the images page you can see that this game brings you into the jungle for the first time. This is quite interesting and makes the both the games different and unique.
The garphics are still the same but they are still good. The detail to things is extrordinly good as you can zoom in at things and really notice the detail.
The sound is not as good as the first game and of most the voices sound the same, plus the sound like they are robots with some metal gismo in their throughts. The music is good though.
The physics are as good as the last and there are a few new move that you can do.
The multiplayer is kick ass, as you can either play as the spies (what your like in single player) or you can play as the terrorists. The terrorists have some sort of machine gun and they are in first person mode. They also have haet seeking goggles and electro goggles as well.
Overall the sory line is excellent and this is a great game and I recommend it to all, so buy it. |

The King Of Stealth Is Back | 4.6 0 comments |
by BadassNinja from Milan, IL, United States | Apr 5, 2004 |
THE GOOD: + Awesome Graphics + Superb Dolby Digital Sound + Great Gameplay + Good Story + Cool New Moves and Gadgets + Good AI + Fun, Unique MultiplayerTHE BAD: - Occasional Glitches - A Few Fustrating Trial and Error Moments
SUMMARY: Gameplay: Stealth gameplay perfected. Sneaking around in the shadows taking people out by surprise makes you feel like a real spy. There's a number of ways to take people out using the enviorment if you know what to look for. You have a number of gadgets you can use to take people out as well, or you can always shoot them in the face. There's also the occasional bomb unarming, code breaking, etc to mix things up. The multiplayer is awesome, one team is spies and the other team is mercs. The spies control like Sam does in the single player game, while mercs play like a first person shooter. The clash of styles really makes a fun and very unique multiplayer game unlike anything you've ever played.
Graphics: Looks great, with some very realistic lighting and shadowing. Second best looking Xbox game behind Ninja Gaiden. The enviorments look amazing, but character models aren't all that impressive, especially with their akward animations.
Sound: Turn up the surround sound because this baby sounds great! Excellent use of surround sound. Everything sounds very realistic and you can actually hear exacly where the sounds are coming from. Best sound i've heard in a game yet.
Control: Controls great, as the original did. Very responsive and the aim feels good. Buttons are well mapped.
Story: Better than the original, and less confusing. Basically, terrorists want to do very bad things, and you've gotta prevent it.
Replay Value: The single player is a great experience, but with a lack of unlockables I don't know if you'll want to play through it multiple times. The multiplayer's where the replay value's at. The Spy vs Mercs gametype is awesome and completely different from anything you've ever played. You'll be on this for months. |

Multi-Player! | 5.0 0 comments |
by razurkiel from , , | Mar 30, 2004 |
THE GOOD: Everything! Oh you get to visit the maps, memorize them and practise different approaches as either character if you wish!THE BAD: Nothing...well ok quitters, but that has nothing to do with the game... SUMMARY: First off I am not going to go into any great detail here, the other two reviewers said more than enough, and I am sure most of you already know all about the gameplay. What I will say that if anyone is unsure as to whether or not they should get this game, then perhaps this review is for you. Without a doubt in my head I believe that this is the best multi-player online game out there, and I have played alot of them, from Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six to Unreal 2 and Crimson Skies. Now the reason its so friggin good is that it stirrs emotions within you that no other multiplayer game can achieve...hunting down the spies or escaping the hunt as a spy, there is no greater thrill...but best of all, this game encourages teamwork and that my friend is where the game shines...you get ahead alot quicker in this game if you and your partner work together, and this can be challenging, some people just run off into the sunset, but when you do find those people that are cooperative, then the game becomes an artform...trust me! |

Snake Who? | 4.7 0 comments |

Sam Fisher is out of hiding and is once again creeping around your room in Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow. And hes back in a big way. After two years from his first release Sam is back and better then ever. This game is a must have for anybody anywhere! But the biggest feature ever given to this game is its Multiplayer.
But lets start out with the single player. The single player has all new features and add-ons for you from the first Splinter Cell. Sam has new moves, and new gadgets. The enemy A.I. has be upgraded and become more deadly making the game not as frustrating as the first one but still pretty hard. For example, you won't keep dying for some stupid little reason. And even the graphics have been increased from a game that seemed like it couldn't be improved. Once you get to the Jungle level you will just be in awe with how beautiful and well detailed it is. It is amazing. The story line itself is very mature and a bit confusing at times but it should all piece together once you get deep into the game. Now that I'm done saying the good stuff about the single player, let me tell you the bad. First off, besides the new A.I., new gadgets, new moves, new story and better graphics the single player hasn't seen any drastic or major changes to the single player. There are still gameplay objectives that you must follow (do not use lethal force or don't raise and alarm or you fail, etc...). And besides that the single player itself is good.
Now, theres the biggest feature to this game: the online play. You can be a spy or a mercanary (merc) and you battle up to 4 people to a room. The spies, have to use their stealth skills to the fullest of their abilities because they cannot survive in a front on confrontation against a merc, while trying to fullfill a number of objectives. While the mercs try and use everything in their ability to find you, and kill you. At first, and I have to be honest, I thought this wasn't a good idea. I mean really! Online stealth game. Sounds cool but it sounds like it could bomb major. Boy was I wrong! The online play is intense, nerve racking, and very competitive. With brillant made multiplayer maps, witty gadgets at your use and a oppenent who isn't an A.I., Splinter Cell online isn't just good, it might just be one of the best online games I've ever played. Now, the only thing I could find wrong with this is that the multiplayer may drag you away from the single player, which I highly recommend you do not do. Play the single player, not just multiplayer.
All in all, this game might be one of the best games of not just the month, but probably the whole year! With better single player, ingenius multiplayer, and a little whip cream on the top. If you have XBox Live! and need a good game get off your ass right now and buy this game. If you don't have Live, then this game is still a must buy.

Pandora Tomorrow Xbox Live Review | 4.7 0 comments |
by Paynie from Bergen, , Norway | Mar 27, 2004 |
I will post a single player review when I get the time to play the single player.
The Big Problem: There is really just one real problem with this game, and that is a serious bug with the OptiMatch system. The game will freeze if you watch the OM results for more than 10 seconds. Forcing you to turn off your Xbox. UbiSoft has announced that a patch will fix this problem very soon. -
There are 8 maps to choose from. A hospital, a movie theater, a museum, a laboratory, a warehouse and 2 other maps. The action is limited to just 4 players and you can be a Mercenary or a Spy. The playing fields is even, so it depends on your taste. Personally I like them both. Mercenaries got a 1st person view and the spies got a 3rd person view. When you join Xbox Live for the first time you will get a introduction to both sides but you need more practise than that. You can pick a couple of objectives, but the main and most popular objective is called Nautraliztion. The point (as a spy) is to find and nautralize a certain number of bombs called ND135. The number depends on the map. And as a Mercenary, your mission is, of course to protect the ND135's.
Over to the ranking system. If you play in a Ranked game you will receive points by how good you played that round. This is of course only if your team won. When you reach a certain number of points you level up. The thing people doesn't understand is that, let's say. It is possible to loose points, but that only happens if you got a high level and playing against newbies all day to boost you rank. And there is one problem with this, quitters! If someone on the opposite team decide to quit the game because they are loosing you will not get points and the game will turn into a "Free" game. The quitter will loose nothing.
The graphics is a bit crappier than the single player. But still, it looks nice as hell. There is no problems with lag and the game will run smoothly all the time. You might experince some lag but that will only happen once in the game.
It's easy to find a match, create a match and people will soon come.
If you own Xbox Live there is no question, you gotta buy this game. |
