THE GOOD:- The small little team chatters are funny
- Melee is cool, windscreen wiper is cool
- Weapons are nice
- The concept of the whole thing is cool
- Commanding team mates
- Blowing stuff up
- Team AI not running in my line of fire, EVER...
THE BAD:
..however, they always seem to die so easily, and are not smart enough to heal themselves so you end up having to run to three different places whilst being shot at, trying to revive people who are dumb enough not to take any cover whatsoever in large firefights
- The graphis are really quite poor for what they could be compared to other FPS's on the 'box such as Halo 2, Unreal Championship 2 etc.
- Grenades seem really weak and inaffective
- Average level design, some places are the same thing over and over and over again, no variety or freshness in different places of a level. It's samey samey
SUMMARY:
Overall this is a good game, but has just missed out on getting a 4 out of 5 mainly because of team mates dieing all the time and the blandness of the level design. Commanding your team is fun, shooting bugs is fun, and overall this is a fun game that should be given a heck of a lot of respect. You can't just go in there guns blazing, otherwise they wouldn't call it Republic Commando, they'd call it bog-standard clone blasting. But you're not just an average clone. Give this game some respect and it will pay off when you look at tactical situations differently. Worth renting at least...
