At first I didn't want to buy this game. I wanted to play it through rental but not buy it. Yet Blockbuster, for some stupid reason, only got the PS2 version and not the Xbox one. So I had no choice but to buy the game even though I was saving up for an Xbox 360. And you know what? I don't regret.

If anything, Ultimate Destruction would be mostly compared to Spider-Man 2, which was the first super hero game to use the GTA open city style. A lot of it was good but what Spider-Man lacked was a variety of side missions, bland gameplay, bad dialogue, uninteresting story and really the only thing truely good about it is the swinging in the open city. Boring. The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction is insulted by being compared to Spider-Man 2. Its really in a whole different league from the other super hero games hits gold in what could be an awesome franchise.

Ultimate Destruction is about Bruce Banner, who is still trying the seemingly impossible, and rid himself of the Hulk forever. Yet the military has a new man for the job of just taking you out: Blonsky. He eventually gets zapped with gamma radiation from Banners destroyed work which he hoped would be his cure. Thus, Blonsky becomes the Abomination. Though the story doesn't sound all that great, I was actually surprised at how well the story was made and told. True, its no Final Fantasy, but I had very low expectations for the storyline and, to be honest, thought the story was going to bomb. Yet Ultimate Destruction does a fairly good job at it. Needless to say, the reason it was better than expected was because of Banner's inner fight with the Demon Hulk and Blonsky's acceptance of becoming what he hates.

But Ultimate Destruction's gold doesn't lie in the story. Its all in the gameplay. You've probably read a lot of reviews saying about how totally awesome the destruction is in this game. They were right. Ultimate Destruction masters the chaos and destruction you can reign upon a city. Its molded and formed the destructuion into, dare I say, an art! You will marvel at the destruction you have set upon the weak humans and you will smilie. Oh dear you will smile.

Ultimate Destruction's destruction is good because of its line-up of awesome and sometimes over the top moves. Use a car as boxing gloves. Grab a wrecking ball and use it as a ball and chain. Play bowling with an 8 ball from a gas station sign. Its all hear and its all awesome. Like Spider-Man 2, you can purchase moves but instead of doing the same side mission for the money, just destroy everything to get the money! Hell, I once grabbed an enemy mech and jumped from a sky scraper and did a pile driver from 100 stories in the air. I rammed his head through a car which exploded on impact and killed him. Which brings me to my next point: the enemies. They range from all sizes from a small solider with an RPG to mechs that are about 2 stories high. The enemies are in plentiful and fun to beat up. Yet they are not a piece of cake from time to time. In fact, this game can get very difficult on normal. So if you think you'll blow through this in 2 days, then you're wrong.

The graphics in this game aren't a Half-Life 2 but are true to this generations graphics capabilities and hold a steady FPS rate in the most intense situations. The sound is awesome with great scores from song writers to the sound of your own carnage.

Overall, Ultimate Destruction is not only an awesome game, but the best super hero game ever. Period. Though its not perfect in a lot of ways such as only being able to explore two areas and some boring story missions, I can see a lot of oppritunities for Radical Games. They've stumbled onto a great game here and I would be more than glad to see a sequel.
