To recover your health at any time, pause the game and press A, B, Right, A, C, A, Down, A, B, Left, A. Unpause the game and you will have full health.

While playing, pause the game at any time and press A, B, Right, A, C, A, Down, A, B, Right, Left. This effect wears off when a level is finished or you pick up a shield. Simply re-enter the code when this happens.
