Saving Blockers
Blockers are not always doomed to get left behind to die.
In some levels you can dig a tunnel directly under the blocker. When the blocker looses his footing he will fall and join the rest of the Lemmings.

Stopping a Digger from digging too far.
Lemmings are so stupid they will happily dig till they reach the end and then fall of the screen. To stop them from digging simply turn them into a builder. They will then stop digging and start building instead.

Tip for a better time in Leaderboard.
If Floaters are involved make sure you wait till the last second before giving them the Floater ability. Giving them the skill too soon will result in them opening their Umbrella too soon which results in a slower decent.

Changing Builders Direction Without A Wall
If you find yourself needing to gain a lot of height but don't have a wall to build to just make 1 Lemming a Blocker and the make the next Lemming build the stairs right at the Blockers feet. The Builder will then lay one or two blocks then turn around and continue building in the opposite direction.
You can then place another Blocker at the top of the stairs and repeat the process to build a zig-zag stairway at the expense of a couple Lemmings.
