THE GOOD:
1. CPU Overheat Protection (C.O.P.) protecting your CPU & motherboard.
2. Easy upgradeable flash BIOS via Asus web site
3. 3 DDR Dimm socket for more ram stick
4. 5 PCI slots for more upgrade or adding hardware
5. I got Optional Audio OB with Game/Midi port
6. 2 USB 1.1 port with 2 more USB port with expandable cable for rear mount

THE BAD:
none to report

SUMMARY:
I bought my Asus A7S333 motherboard in May 2003. I choose this model because they had 5 PCI slots and 3 DDR DIMM socket (for Ram), plus a good value price. I knew I will upgrade my PC in the near future. My model comes with the optional Audio connections and Game/Midi port and other option connections. It was easy to flash your BIOS with the Asus instruction page, I did a backup of the original BIOS version and then I upgrade by following the instruction on the screen. It been more than 3 years I have this mother board without any problem. I installed a 512 Ram PC 3200 DDR400 Samsung (backward technologie) above my 2 other ram of 250 MB PC 2700 DDR333 without any problem. Even though my Asus A7S333 board comes with Audio connections, I prefer to have my own sound card for more option, such as Creative software to control more my recording and playback sound (it is a matter of preference).

This motherboard is tough because my power supply unit overheat a few days ago (Aug 2006) due to a faulty case cooling fan. I have to admit I was running my old power supply unit (Thame Star ATX-320) to is max with only 320 Watts. However with the A7S333 CPU Overheat Protection (C.O.P.) from Asus on the motherboard, it power off my computer, and it was able to save all my hardware including my AMD processor. I just had to replace my power supply for a better wattages and quality and my motherboard was back in business.

At today standard, they have much better Asus motherboard, but fewer with 5 PCI slots. You never really appreciate your motherboard until something goes wrong; lucky for C.O.P. my motherboard was protected. It shows how good Asus A7S333 motherboard is with time. I like so much my Asus' motherboard because I still have my old PC with Asus P2L97 motherboard still running great today, and hopefully this A7S333 will last just has long.

THE GOOD:
Rock solid With memory in first twi Dimm slots, No serious problems

THE BAD:
Difficulty adding memory to 3rd Dimm slot. Computer freezes

SUMMARY:
I picked this Board because it is made by ASUS, a company with a good reputaion. It had all the features that I wanted and it was value priced.

It has run very well for the last two years. The only fault I found is that it is unstable with PC2100 memory in the third DIMM slot. Other than that it's an excellent mainboard. I didn't like the quality of the on board sound. It was a little tinny. I had a soundblaster PCI 128 kicking around and it works well in my system. I am using a relatively slow Athlon XP 1700+, but the whole sytem works well. I play a lot of games including Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. I have everything cranked up and my framerates provide a smooth detailed display. The Geforce 3 ti200 is a good fit for this system. If your looking for a solid reliable, reasonably priced ASUS board, I have no hesitaion in recommending this one.
