Roundups and Shootouts

19" Monitor Roundup - GamePC
[Covers: Sony CPD-G400, Hitachi Superscan 761, Optiquest Q95, Mitsubishi 900u, Viewsonic PF790.] "Here's how we're breaking down the results, out of all the monitors, the Viewsonic PF790 seems to be the best monitor on the price/performance scale, having great image quality, a flat CRT, and a price tag that won't make anyone faint. It's a close call for the best overall monitor (price not being an issue), the Sony and Mitsubishi nineteen-inchers are both incredible, but I found the Sony monitor on my desk the most during this whole roundup, but the Mitsubishi has lots of nice extras and killer image quality."

What They Say:

"CNET Labs' image-quality jury remarked on the CPD-G400's lushly saturated graphics and superb color uniformity and sharpness. Text remained clear and easy to read at sizes as small as 7-point type."
"Flat screens are weird, when you're used to curved ones. Because you're accustomed to the edges of the screen curving away from you, and mentally compensate whenever looking at a monitor, a screen that's actually flat gives the impression of curving towards you at the edges. The older vertically flat models were bad enough; this even flatter one is even odder."
"If you're in the market for a 19" monitor, the Sony G400 delivers the goods on every level. Graphic quality is simply beautiful with text output sharp and clear. A definite winner."
