Asus Crosshair II Formula

I was pleasantly surprised at the integrated graphics performance - it provided a very playable gaming experience at 640x480, and the frame rates were sufficiently high that many games would probably also be quite playable at 800x600. I also like the potential of Hybrid SLI later allowing the PCIe GPU's to be disabled and the use of the on-board video for the desktop; it could really save some power. Frankly, this seems like a nice board for a gamer who wants SLI on an AMD platform, and may also make a good platform for high-end home theatre PC systems.

The price is on the high side, but considering the performance the Crosshair II showed and the wealth of utilities, extras, and addons, it is justifiable since you do get what you pay for. Are there cheaper boards out there that offer great features at a lower price? Yea, but can you find one that has everything in one like this, including a killer sound card? Probably not. If you are into extreme overclocking or high end gaming, look into picking up this board and take over your competition. You will not be disappointed.

The board design of the Crosshair II Formula is excellent, the BIOS options are nice, and stability is rock solid. Should you want SLI support for your Phenom processor, it seems that the Crosshair II Formula is an obvious choice, but at $280 we wonder if it’s worth the asking price. And if you are spending all that money, shouldn't you be looking elsewhere anyway?
