THE GOOD: It is really compact!
10MP means Crop creatively, even with Macro images!
You have P (program mode), A (aperture priority) , S (Shutter priority), and more importantly M (Manual control).
Changing ISO settings is a function button and a wheel scroll away, as well as shutter speed, and F stop. You can also limit the flash exposure compensation in 1/2 stops!
How about i-TTL flash control!
Vibration reduction!
As well as custom color, saturation, and sharpness controls!THE BAD: There is a hissing noise all the time, recording video with sound in quiet environments will pick this up. It might be a fan of some sort.
Relatively slow Auto focus, but it can be improved with changing the metering and the focus control which is also customizable. SUMMARY: After 4 weeks with this camera I like this camera a lot, but I only have a 5600 coolpix to compare it to.
As a coolpix camera it is what I had been hoping for.
A much improved camera from any other previous Point and Shoot.
Some day my wife might let me get a DSLR. I am waiting for a D200, or D300 in two years unless things get interesting with new models by then.
Until then, I expect the P5000 to do all my work!
I am going to put it through its paces above and below water!! |
