Michael Bay has become a renowned director, even though he has only directed four movies (five with the Island), but he always does the memorable movies. Bad Boys II is one of them. The original Bad Boys from 1995 was a big hit, and Bay continues the story of partners Will Smith and Martin Lawrence very well. One thing I enjoyed about this movie was the nonstop action, and the constant humor. Both were intact throughout the movie, and they were balanced enough so that you could enjoy the entire movie, which is 2 and a half hours long.
The story itself is pretty cliche, save a family member from a drug lord. However, Bay makes it interesting enough so that you barely notice. There were good performances by both Smith and Lawrence, and they managed to stay in character. The action scenes, like I said, were intense. The highway chase scene could almost compare to the Matrix Reloaded car scene. It was the final scene that really made the film for me. Storming a mansion in Cuba is just good action movie material. I recommend this movie to all fans of comedy, action, and just summer movies in general.
