It's the story how Bruce became Batman. What's not to love?
THE BAD:
Batman's deep fake out voice ("SWEAR TO ME!!")
Slow beginning; the movie starts out dumb but the plot grows bigger and better every minute
SUMMARY: Batman Begins is definitely one of the few best movies of 2005, including Sin City, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, King Kong and V for Vendetta. Batman Begins is directed by Christopher Nolan, best known for directing Memento and it is also one of the best comic-book movies ever made. The movie tells how Bruce Wayne, from kid to guy, became Batman. I didn't like the movie as much as I liked Superman Returns, but don't get me wrong, this was a great film to. Do you guys know why Batman Begins is compared to Superman Returns? It's because the producers are the same, Warner Bros., DC Comics and Legendary Pictures. Anyway, the movie is very detailed about how he got the suit, the car, and most of all, how he learned all those Kung-fu moves. Also, this movie has one of the best casts in comic-movie history! On to my review, please...
Story - 9 / 10
The story like everybody knows, is how Bruce Wayne became Batman and how he got everything to help him become Batman. The movie starts slow, with Bruce as a kid with his childhood friend, Rachel Dawes, playing in Bruce's garden place. Rachel finds an arrowhead, Bruce gets jealous, Bruce takes it and runs. After like 10 seconds of running, Bruce falls in to this well. Rachel runs for help. While Bruce is down there, Bruce encounters a bunch of mean bats and that's where Bruce gets his phobia of bats from. After this, the film flashes to where Bruce is played by Christian Bale, in a "prison" in Asia. This is where Bruce learns all those pwnage moves. Later here, Bruce is released by a guy named Ducard, played by Liam Neeson, in an attempt to train Bruce how to fight wrongdoers. The last test turns out to be Bruce having to execute a criminal caught by the Ducard's partner, Ra's Al Ghul. Bruce refuses and blows up the training center but saves Ducard.
The plot basically builds up better and better with every passing moment. The best villain by far is Jon Crane, who uses the mask (literally) known as Scarecrow, played by Cillian Murphy. Without revealing too much, it's safe to say that the plot surpasses every one of those of the previous Batman films. Actors - 8 / 10The actors in this film, like I already said, played their parts VERY well. Christian Bale made a name for himself, taking Batman to a new, and better, level than any of those who played Batman before. Having Michael Caine star as old Alfred Pennyworth was a nice change. Flawed but yes, nice. Gary Oldman as Gordon was also a nice change, he definitely played better than the old Gordon. Gary Oldman showed every bit of emotion as the honest cop. The thing that surprised me most was Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox. I'm not sure if he's an original character or not but he is makes all the cool gadgets for Batman. Katie Holmes as the (original?) character Rachel Dawes was pretty good. She, like Oldman (as well as everyone else), showed emotion in her scenes. I give the cast lineup a good eight out of ten. Script - 10 / 10David Goyer was, and still is, a genius. The movie's plot is based on Goyer's story, and was written into a screenplay by Goyer himself and director Chris Nolan. Together, they made a powerful film with a solid script. This is no doubt THE darkest Batman movie in Batman history. Not even Tim Burton, King of the Creeps, could've made a darker Batman story. The script is nice, clear and solid. Every line played by the actors sounds real (except for maybe Batman's fake out voice, you'll see what I mean). Music - 8 / 10Dark. Chilly. These are two of the few words to describe the music of this film. The music fits the movie well and is very dark. There's not much to say about the music that hasn't been said already. Another flashy eight outta ten. Direction - 9 / 10Nolan directed this film masterfully, overseeing every bit of Batman's past as possible. Needless to say, Batman has never been better. Bale totally pwn3d Michael Keaton's performance but his time as Batman was good too. 9 + 8 + 10 + 8 + 9 = 44 divided by 5 = 8.8 divided by 2 = 4.4
For great justice, all your eyes are belong to Batman Begins.
