In 1925, Dodge Connolly (George Clooney) is the star player in a slowly dying sport: Football. To help re-energize the game with the public, Connolly recruits a WWI hero, Carter Rutherford (John Krasinski), to lead his team to greatness. But when a pretty, young journalist (Renï¿½e Zellweger) discovers that Rutherford's war exploits may be more fiction than fact, Connelly uses his charming demeanor to stop her from exposing the truth.
