THE GOOD:
  • The beginning of the movie leaves you thinking "what the hell?".
  • As the movie continues, you start to get a better idea of what is going on.
  • The ending of the movie makes you want to watch Saw II immediately.
  • Some of the scenes are really gory and it's what you would expect from such a movie.
  • The whole idea of the movie gives the whole 'Cherish Your Life' feeling. Don't take time for granted, I like it.
  • The movie will leave you wondering what happens towards the end and becomes confusing.
  • Flashbacks is always something worth mentioning in Saw movies - they're certainly well done.

THE BAD:

  • It will come off as very confusing at first, but you need not worry as there are 4 other movies that will continue the plot.

SUMMARY:
PLOT
The movie begins with a guy named Adam waking up in a bath tub of a dirty men's room in an unknown location. He wakes up under water, so ideally he panics and gets out. It's dark as the lights are out and it's not long before Adam realises he isn't alone when he hears another male's voice from the other end of the room. This voice is of Lawrence Gordon - the other guy that is chained up in this men's room with Adam. Lawrence flicks a switch which happens to turn on the lights, and they both see a body in a pool of blood in the centre of the room. There is a gun and a cassette tape in both of this guy's hands. They begin to wonder why they are both in this room. Adam gets a bit hysterical at the beginning as to why he is there, but Lawrence had already awoken in his chains a while before Adam at the opposite side of the room. After searching for a little while, Adam checks his back pocket to find a tape. He soon showed Lawrence and he then found one of his own in his back pocket in an envelope marked 'Lawrence'. Adam takes his jacket and the plug from the bath tub to reach and get for the cassette tape in the body's hand. After he receives it, they play both tapes and the mystery begins!

GRAPHICS
Some of the scenes in this are very well done as a gore fan. Some of the scenes could turn your stomach and the graphics look very realistic. I suppose you wouldn't really get away with unrealistic graphics in a movie like Saw - where graphics would be on the agenda of the director's mind. Very well done though I must say, it will all seem real to you when watching Saw.

DIRECTOR'S WORK
The director of the first Saw movie is James Wan. He produced both Saw II and Saw III also, with another director involved. The movie is very well directed in my opinion, and if you've ever checked out the video game Dead Space, he also directed the trailer for that game.

AUDIO
There are no audio errors in this movie to my knowledge. I've watched it twice and didn't notice any faults so I would say the sounding and audio in this movie is pretty much spot on!

ATTENTION KEEPERS
The gore scenes in the movie should keep you interested. But it is important you pay attention to each character, as they may show up in later movies or you might miss out on the conclusion of the movie. I went to watch Saw myself - it wasn't on the TV when I watched it, so I just really wanted to watch the movie. It certainly isn't a snore fest anyway, and it might even get you paranoid at times. It has those sort of scenes that you don't want to look at, but you have to. I love it!

TRANSLATIONS
Full movie is set in English so there is no need for any translating or subtitles. Everything is clear in English so you shouldn't have any problem understanding the movie characters.

SUMMARY
To sum the movie up, it's really good. The scenes will keep you interested as I said above and it's something I just watched when I was extremely bored. It worked out well on my behalf, as I found it an extremely good watch. I'm sure you will too if you are a fan of gore or thriller-based movies (if you would consider Saw a thriller of course).

RECOMMENDING IT
This is something I'd certainly recommend. I was recommended it myself and I was having second thoughts but I ended up watching it one day and it was just a really good watch. I even wish I hadn't seen it before, just so I could watch it again and be surprised at each scene. Make sure to look out for the twist in the conclusion too. That will surely come as a surprise to you!
