For the twenty-first year in a row Wrestlemania attempts to be the best wrestling event of the year, and for the twenty-first year, it is. But you see, in the WWE this year, wrestling has really gone downhill in my opinion, so just because this happens to be the best WWE event of the year, doesn't mean that it is actually that impressive. With matches like Christy Hemme vs. Trish Stratus and Akebono vs. Big Show in a Sumo Match, you can tell that it isn't going to be as good as previous years, but it does have its moments.
It kicks off with Rey Mysterio vs. Eddie Guerrero. These two men are tag team champions facing each other, so you know that the two will have some good ring chemistry, and it is a good quality match. The only thing downgrading the match is that the feud between them is still going on till this day and it is getting really stale. It is a good match though.
After that, the next match is 'Money in the Bank'. Chris Jericho vs. Chris Benoit vs. Christian vs. Shelton Benjamin vs. Edge vs. Kane. Now this match was very hard to predict, but despite the winner getting a Championship Title Shot, it didn't really matter who won it, as this match was very good. They all put in lots of effort, especially Shelton Benjamin with great ladder control and Chris Benoit who actually injures his arm badly but still continues to put on a great match. Second best match of the night.
Undertaker vs. Randy Orton was next, and for the 13th year in a row, Undertaker doesn't disappoint. Not a great match, and extremely predictable.
Christy vs. Trish was terrible, but luckily straight after that was the match of the year. Kurt Angle vs. Shawn Michaels. Now, most Kurt Angle matches are great, but with someone like Shawn Michaels you wouldn't think it would be that good, but trust me it is. Its probably worth buying this DVD or Video for this match alone, both men put on a great performance which you must see to believe. A five-star match up.
Unfortunately, from there things get MUCH worse. I mean, after that it's the Sumo Match, followed by two bad Championship Matches. JBL vs. John Cena is absolutely crap, and Batista vs. Triple H was nearly as bad. Both the championship matches are extremely predictable, but even worse than you would expect. Still, as I stated earlier, it's worth your money even if it's just for Angle vs. Michaels.
If you are going to buy any WWE videos or DVD's this year, make sure it's this one. It may not be brilliant, but it's a lot better than other events this year. It just scrapes a 4.0 from me.
