You MUST have a high speed Internet connection. Dial up will NOT work. You will need your logon ID (the ID you log into the service with) and your password.
If you need additional clarification or I missed something let me know and I'll edit this post to include it. I'm really getting pissed off now, I've just got my PS3 and I'm trying to get online. I go through the steps and then test the connection but it says something 'timed out' trying to get the isp address...any ideas? ------------------- The handling of a heart is a very delicate art cos it's paper thin, run irrelevant thought that started out as a spark could be a poisonous dart that leaves a permanent mark that's ice cold in the day and burns in the dark - Jay Electronica

87% is fine and should work. Go through the Sony PS3 Support Easy Configuration Setup. This should resolve your issue. ------------------- ![]()

quote Gaz_footballthegameYes. quote Gaz_footballthegameNot sure I understand the question. The PC does not have to be turned on or connected to the Internet. Does that answer your question? quote kitediterSometimes you can't establish a connection with the server for various reasons. Signal strength should not be one of them. Keep trying to get the update. Edit: Try adding a signal gain antenna to your router. Get a no name brand 7.5 dBi or greater gain. ------------------- ![]()

Deadwing, can you give us more information? Where is the connection test timing out? On the PS3? Are you using a wired connection? Have you confirmed the router is connected and working properly? ------------------- ![]()

I haven't tried to get online for any games yet, just for the Playstation Store. I do have one question though. When I go to set up the online connections for gaming, where do I begin the process? Do I select an option from the PS3 browser menu, or do I access it from the game itself? Where is the actual connection established? If I want to play Rock Band online, for example, do I select the online option from within the game itself, or do I use one of the browser options, which'll then take me to a server and jump me into the game? ------------------- "So you're looking for a slut so slutty she out-sluts the slut you're angry at... that's problematic"

Do you have to have a wireless router even if you want to connect via a wired connection.?
