As Ville Valo put it, I think it is possible, just not in this lifetime. I personally think it is a great discussion. ------------------- ![]() Team Cool Lightning Igniting Tigers!

I think that the human race is superior enough for curing diseases, heck we may even find a cure for aids, we have gone to the moon, we have been to other planets, we have really industrialized during our short time here on Earth. Just think about it, the Earth is millions of year old nd we have only been here a fraction of a fraction here, and since that time we have really technologically advanced a lot, so think about it. What will happen in the next 6000+ years, a lot of stuff right? I think so, but I just can't say that we will have time travel, it seems so inevitable, I don't know how would we be able to go back to our childhoods while we watch as an adult? Or how will we be able to go forward and see our graves? I just don't think so. ------------------- ///Vote!\\\

Woah, no one told me about this thread. quote hazzybwfcActually I think it's called the butterfly effect, isn't it? That a butterfly flapping it's wings on one side of the world could cause tornadoes on the other side. Well, I think the future of time travel more depends on us learning to manipulate it, rather than just going to speeds that enable time to freeze. But lets get one thing straight, time freezing is time travel. Or it can be considered to be so, in a basic sense. We're all moving through time, at 24 hours a day, so to make it stop is altering time, and going slower than usual. That's about as good as going backwards I don't think I believe in that chaos theory/butterfly effect. If tiny changes caused massive effects, then massive effects would happen all the time...I mean we all do small things eh? For examples, tornadoes don't depend on whether or not I drop my pen. Ask any good meteorologist. I think everything big that you're thinking of has other causes, it's more just an idea. -------------------

We can travel faster than the speed of sound. Does this mean we can hear the dinosaur's grunts? No. ------------------- ![]()

Perhaps if you change anything it would just spiral into an alternate reality and not affect your own. Otherwise we would have seen somebody from the future by now. ------------------- B35T 51G 3V3R!!!!!!!!!!1!11!!!!!!1

quote Ville_Valoyeah butterfly effect, the true thing is chaos theory, its on the dvd if youve seen The Butterfly Effect, which is an awesome film. they do explain it very well though, and youre right the way you explain it does make it sound silly, but they explain it in a different way and it makes so much sense. for example they have a pendulum with a hinge in it, about half way, and they drop it one way. they record how it moved, and then they drop it about a fraction differently, and eventually at one point the pendulum is moving totally differently, all because of that first fraction of change. so the butterfly causing the tornado isnt really believable, but something linked to a butterfly, linked to something else to something else etc could cause something big, so the 'small' events have to be linked, and thats why everyones small actions dont have great consequences
