Regarding the memory card

I have a memory card for my Wii, but I've been playing on it without the card in my system but yet it still saves my progress. Does it save onto the system? And if it does, what's the point of the memory card then?

re: Regarding the memory card

It saves it in the system, and the point of the Memory card is to 'extend' the Wii's Memory.

re: Regarding the memory card

The Wii has 512 megabytes of internal flash memory, which is enough for game saves and a few shop channel downloads, but it is quite small. This is why they made the Wii compatible with 2 GB or less SD cards, so you can continue to store data when your Wii's memory runs out. To access the memory, just press the button at the bottom of the Wii menu and find it in the Wii settings.

Edit: Beaten by seconds... But I gave a whole lot more information.

re: Regarding the memory card

Oh I see. Also, if I put any of my games in another Wii system, I'll have to place my memory card in the system in order to access my saved data?

re: Regarding the memory card

Not really. The memory system is completely different with the Wii than it was with the GameCube. You will have to access your memory and move it to your SD card, then bring your SD card to your friend's house, then transfer it from the SD card to their Wii. I wish the Wii had a memory card system like the GC had. The new system is just confusing and annoying.
