I needs help in Flash

I'm making a game where you move a walking character with the arrow keys. Is there any way to make it so when you're holding a key down you can't push any of the other arrow keys? i only want 4 direction movement. Thanks.

re: I needs help in Flash

First off it would help if you mentioned which version of flash your working with.

Second, I do not think much flash is done around here, so maybe you would like to try restating your question here:

Keep in mind that is mainly for Flash CS3 I believe, but most likely you will find a helpful community over there to help you troubleshoot these kinds of problems.

Goodluck,

    Hey, I'm looking into Flash.

Is it free? If not, how much is it?

    Thanks.

re: I needs help in Flash

There may be a few Flash Editors around that are free, cheap or open source, however the industry standard is Adobe Flash CS3 I believe. And that costs a fair bit.

Yes, I believe there are free, cheap, or open source alternatives to Adobe Flash. I would not feel comfortable recommending one though as I have never used flash much.

Maybe someone else can help elaborate, otherwise you might want to try asking on a flash specific website about free or open source alternatives.

However a bit of googling did turn up this blog comparing adobe/macromedia with some free/opensource stuff out there:

Agreed. That site is quite a useful resource. Well worth a bookmark.

As for questions about using the industry standard Adobe/Macromedia Flash, we actually have a program-specific help thread here which is watched from time to time by the few Flash users we have on Neo. I know it's pretty much completely dead but chances are that pro's like Sonic Flash at least have it saved as a favourite thread.
