A new look
|
Ok, recently, for some odd reason, I've been wanting to get a more "Emo" look.
I was wondering if anyone could give me some suggestion, like how to get my hair cut
Current Hair/look http://img180.imageshack.us/img180/1490/mvc036sfi2.jpg
And by how to get it cut, I mean a cut I could do with my hairs length.
And I was wondering if anyone could give me the name of a store in the South Eastern USA( Most preferably in NC ) that I could buy some tighter clothes at. I'm really small for a guy( I'm 15 and weigh 100 pounds ) so finding clothes that fit me is kind of hard.

"Clothes and stuff don't change much". This is a clothes and fashion forum. All we talk about is clothes.
ML, I think your best bet would be to buy online, or go to the biggest mall in your area and shop around. I don't find it too hard to find skinny jeans and I live far from EVERYTHING.

Mario_Luigi, get ready for criticism and help!
Okay, well with your hair, the "emo" look isn't even for you because the original basis of emo hair was short on sides and back with just long bangs. You don't want that. If anything, you should go to a salon(not one in walmart or that your mom/grandma goes to) and ask them to layer it and look unique and easy to manage. Believe me, if you achieve the shaggy skaterboi look, you won't really enjoy it too much.
And about the tight clothing. Just look up any stores that have a Euro-trend/style. European clothing tends to be more clean cut and less baggy, and is probably right up your alley seeing how you look like you have the frame for it.
And might I suggest staying away from wearing girl pants. All that look does for you is it makes others think you shop in the girls section at Salvation Army. If anything, you can just purchase pants with a longer inseam if you want to gain that tight look. And if you don't really know what the inseam is, it's the length from the crotch of the pants to the bottom cuff. I wouldn't recommend wearing these though unless you are comfortable with things staying "tight".

For you hair try this out. Its as long as you hair {about I would say} So all you have to do is straighten it and color the back red. Then when your done just part it to the right or left which ever you like. See how that works out for you. If you dont like it just look up some "emo" hairstyles on google, find one you like and go to the saloon to have them cut it for you.
For the cloths try shopping at a Zumiez. You could also get shirts that might help from a Buckle. At Zumiez you could find allot of tight pants. Good luck with your new look.

Oh kick ass, Jared Leto, I'm fine with getting my hair cut like that.
Should I get it chemically straightened, since straightening irons don't tend to work for me too well.
And thanks everyone, atleast people on here help without flaming me

I didnt even know you could get your hair chemically straightened. If it doesnt mess your hair up in any way and if it is easy for you then yeah.

Yeah, but keep in mind when you get it chemically straightened, you can't wash it for at least 48 hours too. Best to get it done at a salon to ensure your hair doesn't get fried.

I go to a place Downtown where I live, they always do a great job, I've had my hair thinned there, had it layered there, even had it cut like Leon S Kennedy's hair there.
I'm pretty sure they do chemical straightening there, and with not being able to wash it for 48 Hours, isn't washing your hair alot bad for it anyways?

Yeah. Trust me on the emo stuff, kay?
Like All Knowing said, your hair doesn't look like it can attain the "emo" status unless you spend about an hour a day straightening and fixing it.
For clothes, some more "emo" brands are of course, Hottopic, BleedingStar Clothing, Skate brands are coming in [i.e. Element, Volcom]
And tbh, emo really isnt about how tight your clothes are :/ It's turned into a -bleeping- hair contest, and Jared Leto and the rest of 30STM lose the contest.
 Emo Hair ^
Just having it straight and over your face doesn't make it emo, sorry. You have to dye it, fry it, spike it, gel it, and flatten it in the front. My hair routine;
First I usually coat it with hairspray, and then take a flat-iron to it for about 30 minutes. Then I let it set for about 10 minutes and finish it off with some hairspray and gel.
If you're really intent on getting emo hair, it'll take a lot of work. I suggest googling emo hair and finding a picture you want and taking it to your stylist and asking them what they can do.

Emo hair?
Seriously, there isn't a better place to look for indie / emo or even scene hairstyles on the net. Hundreds of different styles for different lengths, genders, colours and hairtypes.
As for clothes? With Small, Medium and Large t-shirt sizes in the UK i stick to small. Keeps things tight. But then i'm not sure how sizing works in the US.
Emo doesn't neccesarily have to be dark colours. It's a total misconception that emo is 'dark and dingy'. You can just as easily wear some retro videogame shirts. Space invader shirts and clothes are quite popular right now.
Trousers? Skinny jeans are quite easy to find. But if they're a bit too tight for your liking you can buy them slightly bigger to get a little more bag around the thighs and waist, whilst retaining the whole 'skinny' look.
Make sure you have a decent pair of shoes too. Adidas isn't exactly emo. Try a pair of those little white pump thingyss (they don't really have a name). They're cheap and really popular in the UK with emo's and indies alike.
I'm not really sure how accesible that stuff is in the US. I think i got a little carried away to be honest.
quote Twang
Emo Hair ^ Just having it straight and over your face doesn't make it emo, sorry.[/size] Of course it does. Straightening is pretty much essential most of the time, but if you do it everyday you'll be left with nothing but split ends from all the heat damage, even if you do use some sort of heat protection spray. Dying your hair black is pretty much the worst way to go about it. Keeping your hair its natural colour is fine, unless you want to look like all the other wannabe emo kids, if so then be everyone's guest and dye it black, shitty black. As for gel, leave it for a special occasion. You want to leave something special for when you're going out somewhere specific. This message was edited by T0a5t3r on Aug 15 2007.

Yeah, Toaster pretty much summed it up.
I agree that emo doesn't have to be associated with dark colors. I actually prefer if people leave their hair the way it is. If you're going to dye it, black is a pretty boring route to go. Try to be original with funky colors, mix it up a little.
