DC

This is a discussion of the DC Universe with a similiar approach as the Marvel Universe thread. Everyone knows some of the characters: Superman, Batman, Flash, Wonderwoman, Aquaman to name a few. There are so many interesting and bizarre things in the DC Universe such as Quard the antimatter universe or Daxamites who have similiar powers to Superman and are as powerful if not more so but are vulnerable to lead as opposed to Kryptonite.

Here's a chronology of some of the major sagas and crossovers of the DC Universe.

Crisis on Infinite Earths
Legends
Millenium
Cosmic Odessey
Armegeddon 2001
Armegeddon Inferno
Darkness Within
Zero Hour
Final Night
Genesis
Day of Judgement
Worlds at War

I know even less about DC than I do MARVEL, but I'll be monitoring this thread to try and learn more.

re: DC

Well I'm not going to post a bio on the Joker per se because he's more mysterious than Wolverine but I will provide some info on the character. He is a psychotic, homicidal sociopath. The Joker crippled the original Batgirl aka Barbara Gordon. He brutally murdered Bruce Wayne's adopted son and the second Robin, Jason Todd. He killed Commisioner Gordon's second wife Sarah. He is easily one of the four most dangerous of Batman's foes, the other three being Two Face, Bane, and Ra's al Ghul. The Joker isn't much of a fighter himself, but he is quite intelligent although quite crazy.

Two of the definitive Batman comics featuring the Joker are Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight issue 50 and Batman: The Killing Joke.

I hope this was somewhat satisfactory. If you want to know more on the Joker let me know.

re: DC

I didn't know he killed Gordan's wife, weird. I think they should have him kill more characters than that. They should create some stupid ones so they can get killed.

Anyway, it was quite satisfactory. But I really am interested in "The Red Hood". In the Batman: Dark Tomarrow video game forum, somebody posted a quick bio of him and said there was villain called the red hood that fell into the chemical and became the joker. Is he that one guy that batman fought in one of the first appearences of batman ever that had a red outfit on, with the skull and crossbones on his red KKK mask? You know, back when bob cane drew batman with purple gloves and a wolverine type mask? He even had a gun I think. Is that him? If not, I want to know who that guy was aswell. I am really interested in the very early batman lore,

re: DC

Actually there were two Red Hoods. The real one who was a master criminal in Gotham and a "fake" one who became the Joker. The Joker has killed several other people as well, but those mentioned were some of the more noteworthy ones as far as the Batman stories are concerned.

The Joker also murdered many UN representatives as well in the "Death in the Family" storyline.

ALso in the '70s Joker had his own comic series so that is something else you might want to look for.

re: DC

The Joker red hood was basically a pawn of "his" gang. The real Redhood was a ringleader of a gang of criminals in Gotham. The Red Hood costume was a suit much like the Joker's with a large red cape and a red helmet that was a cylinder but round on top. The helmet was featureless and had mirrored lenses allowing the wearer to see, but it had a lousy field of vision.

re: DC

Thats really weird. After all this time I have never heard about the red hood(s). Jokers past still puzzels me, but I think I know enough to sleep at night. Do you know what the story of the first Batman story was like?

Yeah. I have a reprint of it. Basically the mysterious Batman puts an end to a criminal operation which involves the Axis Chemicals corporation. At the end of the story it is revealed that Batman is actually the wealthy industrialist Bruce Wayne.

re: DC

Interesting, so the first Batman movie did have some comic-based events in it. So whats the deal with that monk he shot silver bullets into? I heard that was the first story of batman ever in comics.

re: DC

It was one of the earliest Batman stories, but to my knowledge after Crisis on Infinite Earths it's not part of the current DC continuity. Although the fact that Batman did use a gun for a short period of time was retained and explored in the Batman Year Two storyline.
