Not to any lesser being. I merely stepped down as the forum had pretty much died.

Adventure Con was a blast, guys. I met John Romita Jr., Andy Smith, Phil Noto, Keith Champagne, Ethan van Sciver, and Joe Staton. Got quite a few things signed along with a few things drawn. Spidey by Romita Jr. Spectre by Van Sciver. Batman by Staton. Hawkman by Smith and Champagne.

re: The Comics Lounge

I'm pretty new to the Marvel Universe and I'm planning on buying the Civil War series. Anyone care to give me a little background on it? Why did the war start etc.. just to give me a better reason to read it.

De ja vu

lol, I read it and thought it was pretty good. An intreguing read but the ending wasn't great.

I'm also going to get The Punisher Diaries from Civil War, as he has a really good part in the story - and he's my favourite 'hero'.

re: The Comics Lounge

I haven't read the Pro. But i have just this year discovered Neil Gaiman's Sandman, I'm on volume 7 and it is already my favourite comic series ever, even surpassing my beloved Preacher.

Ahh <3 Sandman, for ever and ever amen. Particularly love the way Gaiman works longstanding elements of the DC universe into the storyline, so I think it might be slightly technically superior to Preacher, much as I love Ennis's baby.

re: The Comics Lounge

I'll throw this out there again.

I just read the series and I had one little question.

In the first book the mayor is seen talking with a man who seems vegetative with flabby skin. I think it is supposed to be kingpin but i'm not sure. any ideas who this guy is?

re: The Comics Lounge

But as good as Gaiman's Sandman is, I still hold Eisner's The Spirit to be superior.

Some other good series to check out... Scalped, Army & Love, Fables, The Boys, Sandman Mystery Theatre, Grendel, Mage, Liberty Meadows, Cerebus, ElfQuest, Bone, and Poison Elves.

I got it! I'll be checking it out later tonight. I think I might start branching out a bit as even though some people would view it as being, I don't know, lazy? I prefer reading graphic novels to actual novels themselves unless it's something I can really relate to.

Any other spoilers from Messiah Complex that you want to drop? Or other deaths...

Anyone else interested in the upcoming X-Force book? Cyclops puts together a black ops team of Wolfsbane, X-23, and Warpath led by Wolverine.

Speaking of deaths, Starlin's current New Gods series has a heckuva body count so far.

Oh yeah, completely forgot about the apparent genocide of the New Gods.

Also, apparently Professor X isn't dead.

re: The Comics Lounge

New Gods is kicking ass. What else does one expect from the man who wrote Infinity Gauntlet though?

As for Chuck's death, anyone like that all black "fade to black" page? Gave me flashbacks of the cover to Solar: Man of the Atom issue 10.

Over in Countdown to Final Crisis, Jason has now become Red Robin (Nightwing's persona from the now classic Kingdom Come), and Prime is about to throw down with Monarch.

And Brother Eye is now apparently using Firestorm as a power source.
