I have read how to do this and I have managed to bring his platform down onto the canopy. Then there is a giant spike above him. No matter where I shoot it, or its supports, it doesnt fall down. Can someone please tell me where exactly to shoot at it. Thanx.

Use mp5 to zoom in(press x) and aim carefully. You will see 4 orange bolts(like the 3 that you shot before). Just shoot them off and the spike will fall.

Indeed. Although I preferred defeating Vlad rather than the section with Vinnie, since that death sequence at the end is always different.
