If you're going for this particular version, you better get used to the slow pace of the battles. Eternia (Or Destiny II as it is called in the English version) pretty much perfected the basic battle system.
If you can read Japanese, you can try to go for the PS2 remake of Destiny, as well as import its sequel, Destiny 2 (not to be confused with Eternia) For simplicity's sake, most fans call Eternia "Eternia," "ToE," "Destiny II," or "ToDII/E" while the Destiny 2 that is in Japan only is called "Destiny 2J" or "ToD2J". To tell you the truth, I am going to acquire this game. I know it's not that fast paced as TOD2 but would like to see how it is. Looks fun though.

Okay, so I pretty much should have gotten this game well before TOD2. TOD cant' compete with TOD2 at least in my eyes.

Perfectly understandable, since it DID come out before ToE, and anyway it retained the slowness of the original Phantasia anyway XD;;
