	As far as I know, that's never been disclosed by Nintendo. Yoshi's actually the one who found Mario (as indicated by the storyline of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island). In Mario's world, there's an island that's populated by many yoshis who reproduce asexually. So, it's safe to assume that Yoshi simply hatched from an egg made by another of its kind.
