Mew - Seemingly Unstoppable :@

While fighting Mew in the prime cup, the little pink pokemon seems impossible to beat. I know the only type psychics are vulnerable to are bugs and ghosts. Counter-productively, most of the bugs and all ghost 2nd types include poison, thus nullifying their advantage. With no stats to exploit, how can you beat it?

re: Mew - Seemingly Unstoppable :@

Rather then trying to exploit a weakness, you should fight fire with fire. Use another powerful psychic pokemon, that way Mew's psychic attacks don't hurt you as much as they normally would. Just be sure to use a psychic pokemon with moves that could defeat the Mew. Maybe you could use a Mewtwo or Alakazam with a strong element based attack, like Thunder or Blizzard (maybe you could get lucky and freeze Mew). Of course, Mew's special defense is high so you won't do tremendous damage with those attacks, but if you can incur a status ailment among Mew then you might just have the advantage and win the fight.

Or use Snorlax, he already has high Spec Def, use amnesia to raise it to max and theen rest, then keep body slamming Mew, hopefully you will paralyze it

re: Mew - Seemingly Unstoppable :@

Use Jynx, put opposing Mew to sleep, throw up a Sustitute. It should take 2 Psychics to break it, so that affords you some extra time. Then beat it down with Ice Beam/Blizzard, or try to use Psychic a few times, and hope for some quick Special Downs.

I didn't think it was that hard. Then again, it WAS a 2-on-1 matchup, I believe I had an Eggy out and that same Jynx as previously mentioned waiting in the wings. Haven't tried it yet but I supposed Lapras would work quite well.

Confuse Ray, Body Slam, Surf/Ice Beam, T-Bolt/Rest

Confuse Ray & Body Slam for Confusion/Paralyzation. Surf/Ice Beam for STAB. T-Bolt for an extra attack or Rest for staying power. T-Bolt normally works better, but you'd probably be better off with Rest in this particular situation.

re: Mew - Seemingly Unstoppable :@

...after crushing Prime Cup too often with my own team, I decided to do something new. I *gasp* used rentals in Master Ball.

Main Team:
Raichu (T-Wave, Thunder, and 2 others I don't remember/didn't use much)
Slowbro (Surf, Psychic, Disable?, something else)
Lapras (Ice Beam, Bubblebeam, Mist, something else)

Others:
Dugtrio (Dig, Rock Slide, Sand Attack, something else)
Ninetales (Fire Blast, Confuse Ray?, 2 others)
Machamp (Low Kick, Focus Energy, Karate Chop?, something else)

I got to the final round with 6 continues (damn lucky Crit Hit Thunder took out my Slowbro). I chose Slowbro, Dugtrio, and Raichu for the "dreaded" last round. I normally started with Raichu, so I thought the AI might start with Rhydon, so I started with Slowbro instead. Well, he started with Arcanine (wrong thinking, right result on my part. call it a lucky break, lol). Anyway, he did what I thought he would do, switch to Mew. I Surfed in case he wouldn't have switched anyway, and took Mew's HP down a bit. Then switched to Duggy to avoid Mew's T-Wave. 2 Dig's later and Mew was down. Wasn't hard at all really, ya just need a bit of strategy.

Psh...the rest of his post was...

I just did what someone else suggested: use a Mewtwo to destroy it. It was a quick battle, and Mew lost easily.

re: Mew - Seemingly Unstoppable :@

I just used Dugtrio, Vaporeon, and Onix. I just used Onix once Mew was out and did a little bit of damage then used (SD/or Explosion[can;t remember which one]) and took it down to 1/2 its HP and from there on in it was easy sailing with Vaporeon's high HP.

This is how you know when someone doesn't read the entire post...

Notice how it says I used a team of RENTALS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This means that the moves I posted were the ones that I used most often. If you want to know what the rest are, you can find out very easily, because it is a team of RENTALS!!!!!!!!! If you're too lazy to check what the other moves are, too bad, it wouldn't matter much anyway, cause those other moves weren't used much in the first place.

For example, why have Golem use Fire Blast on Victreebel when Earthquake would deal much more damage. Fire Blast isn't really needed at all, so if I didn't remember it right away, I wouldn't have posted it.

Anyway, Mew isn't that hard to beat. It's saving grace is Thunder Wave and hoping for a few FP's. I chose Dugtrio because it's quicker than Mew, can't be T-Waved, can kill Mew in 2 Digs (or Earthquakes, should it have it), and Psychic can't OHKO it.

re: Mew - Seemingly Unstoppable :@

If your Mewtwo is powerful enough, which it should be, you should have no trouble here. I think you can use rental Pokemon in your team, so go ahead and use the Dugtrio for the fight.
