Alright. I know how to get the lucky 7's but I don't understand the mechanics behind it.

Well like you said you know you get it when your current health goes to 7777hp. (just clarifying that in case anyone wanted to know) When this happens everytime you attack it takes off 7777. This is really useful with barrets limit break ungramax or any other multiple hitting attacks.

Limit breaks have nothing to do with it. When a character has 7,777 HP, you lose control of him/her until the effect is gone.
