They aren't broken.
Sounds like your memory card if screwed or you aren't even saving.

I wasn't talking about the memory card and the memory card has nothing to do with the game...

I thought you meant you broke the disk in half by accident or something. Maybe it's just a glitch?

I've never had that problem the worst I've had is the game freezing mid battle with the sprites doing the stand-by motion while the music plays, but that only happens against emerald and bizarro sephiroth. usually the latter.

Something like this has happened to me. I was trying to get Vincent, and when I opened the coffin, there was him talking, with no Vincent in the coffin!

re: Lol. Why is it that FF7 discs always are easily broken?

There is too much awesomeness to be contained in a simple disc. It sometimes causes it not to work.

Similar to a paper jam, but with awesomeness instead.

But really, its either a glitch (can't do anything about it...unless you are up for trying a gameshark...which may corrupt your file) or your disc is dirty or scratched. I would take a soft cloth and get it damp and lightly rub it on your disc. My disc 3 didn't work, but I finally got it working after gently cleaning it. One spec of dirt can cause a game to freeze.

re: Lol. Why is it that FF7 discs always are easily broken?

spit and polish!! sometimes works... admitedly shinra no.26 would never take off (ok i know it doesnt anyway in disk 1) but it froze every time! i think the ff gods did not want me 2 fight palmer with big bad summons ^-^ hehe. This may be worth saying but sometimes its more the psx than the actual disks which ive found many a time trust me!

The discs quality is old, cheap and hold more space.

re: Lol. Why is it that FF7 discs always are easily broken?

This only happened to me once, when I first got the game when it was released. I could get to just after the second reactor in the beginning of the game, then when cloud falls and its supposed to go to the cut scene with Aeris it just froze... Of course back then I had the luxory of taking it back and trading it for a new copy.

re: Lol. Why is it that FF7 discs always are easily broken?

most probably your system, my ps2 struggles to play brand new ps2 games, i have put it on its side, stand it up, hold it at a slant and all sorts of weird shit and keep re startin it til it works, guess its just the way things are when they get old, at least if thats the problem you'll have 2 working copies of ff7 =D
