Final Fantasy VII Challanges |
Final Fantasy VII challanges are not for the faint of heart, or the casual FF7 player. But they can be one of the most rewarding games you can play if you are up for the challange. Let's start with the basics. These are the most common types of challanges: LL: Low Level. No characters are allowed to exceed 30. You will need to run from normal encounters and only level up when absolutly nessisary to beat a boss. NM: No Materia. No Materia is allowed at all through the course of the game. You must trash any materia you receve in the game, it cannot be sold for gil. Any char who has materia when they join your party cannot use it in a battle and it must be de-equipped and trashed as soon as possible. (Yes that means you can't use the chocobo lure to get past the Midgar Zolom. But if you don't want to level up endlessly to beat it there is an easier way, Just run halfway through the swamp and enter the menu before the Zolom reaches you then save and restart, You will be able to run the rest of the way without the Zolom catching you) NI: No Items. No items can be used in battle.Exceptions are Key Items, batteries, and the save crystal. IE: Initial Equip. You may only use the weapon and armor the character had when they first entered your party (I.e. Buster Sword and Bronze Bangle for cloud) Weapons and armor you aquire during the course of the game may be sold. NA: No Accessories. Accessories can never be equiped. They may be sold for gil. SC: Single Character. You can only use one char in battle throughout the game. The other two chars must be killed asap and you cannot attack any monsters until you have only one char alive. ------------------------------ Uncommon challanges: these are usually used in conjunction with the more common challanges. NNMI: No Non_Mandatory Inns. You are not allowed to use Inns or tents. NE: No Escaping. You are not allowed to escape during battle. LE: Lowest exp. You must have the lowest exp possible after beating Jenova-SYNTHESIS. MO: Materia Only. You may only use Materia. You can't attack or use items. IO: Items Only. You may only use items. Starts as soon as you can buy Grenaids. CMO: Command Materia Only. You can only use Command Materia. This may not interfere with other rules, for example if you are doing a NI as well you may not usw W-Item. MMO: Magic Materia Only. Same as above except with Magic Materia. NES: No Enemy Skills. L1L: Level one limits. You can only use Level one Limits. NLB: No Limit Breaks NPA: No Physical Attacks. You may not use the attack command in battle. NS: No Shops. You are only allowed to use items you find or win in the game. (this ecnompasses everything from trivial items like Spider Web to some of the most powerful weapons and materia in the game, like Ultima Weapon and Knights of the Round) This message was edited by Soloris on Feb 07 2009. I am currently playing a SCIE game ( Single Char, Initial Equip) The game is fairly challanging depending on the level of your char. I am playing with Cloud. Currently I am 11 hours 4 min into the game. Cloud is Level 20 and I am working on beating Reno and Rude when you first artrive at Gongaga. They are pretty tough I couldn't beat them at lvl 18 so I leveled up a little going to try it again.
Update on SCIE game. Finally beat Reno and Rude in Gongaga. I just kept casting cure on myself until my Limit Guage was full then used Clouds Meteorain. Took about 4 min. This message was merged with other messages by Wraith (moderator) | |

Yep buster sword and bronze bangle. So I'm only allowed to equip two materia at a time. It takes some stratagy, some of the random encounters are actually harder than boss battles, I usually keep Restore and Enemy Skill equipped. Matra Magic is great against multiple opponents.

That's true but I personally wouldn't feel like it was a true SC game if I did that. I was thinking earlier of trying to get Beta, I'm high enough level (21) but it would take a few tries. I would probably cure until I could use meteorain and drop the Zolom by 2k so he rises up then cure until he casts beta then pray he doesn't knock me out or kill me until I kill him first. That's me though, If another player wanted to use your stratagy than that is cool. (I'm not even sure if I could finish it off right now before he tails me out)
------------------------------ UPDATE: Just getting ready to fight the Zolom. Cloud lvl 22, HP:902, MP:174. 1st try: Forgot to put Cloud in the back row :/ Had to cure too much, got one Meteorain off then got tailed out. 2nd Try: Much nicer, he only bites for 220 dam instead of 440. Still got tailed out. Ill let yall know if I can accomplish this soon. I'm going to try a few more times. 10th try: I'm beginning to think its not possible at my current level. I simply cannot do enough damage to him to kill him before I get tailed out, espessially with a buster sword. Ill have to come back later when I'm a higher level. quote Kudistos Megistos Very nice, and an excellent point, unfortunatly that stratagy deosnt help me in and of itself because the Zolom never casts Beta, but I am sure I can modify it a bit to fit my needs. Thank you. ------------------------------ UPDATE: SCIE game. Just beat the Gi Nattak in Cosmo Canyon. The easiest boss battle so far, I just tossed an X-Potoin at it and boom, instant win. The caves were a bit of a challenge and I died once tyring to get through them until I remembered I had death sentence, which worked wonders on the giant spiders, just heal until the counter is up. Stats: Cloud level 24 Time 14:10:20 This message was edited by Soloris on Feb 08 2009. ------------------------------ UPDATE: SCIE game. Reached Nibel, went straight for the Lost Number after getting items from the Sepheroth clones. This boss was easy, I used Deadly Waste to poison it then defended and cured until I could use Meteorain (only had to use it once) plus two Moltovs and the boss was down. I know I didn't need to beat this boss to continue my game because the only point is getting Vincent but I got Odin as well and I like to be thourough in my games. Stats: Cloud lvl 24, Time 14:53:07 This message was edited by Soloris on Feb 08 2009. ------------------------------ UPDATE: SCIE game Beat Materia Seeker. Used Meteorain until it cast Trine on me then used trine in between curing and meteorain to stop its hp gain when it cast Cure2 on itself. Stats: Cloud lvl 26. Time: 16:07:54 This message was edited by Soloris on Feb 08 2009. UPDATE: SCIE game Beat Palmer at rocket town. He was easy, just use Trine and Meteoain, cure when needed. Ok, so its been a while since I updated my progress on my SCIE game, mostly because I got frustrated trying to beat the damn Apps boss in Wutai. That took me a good 10 times or so to beat, I never should have took that sidequest >.<
Anyways, I got past it with a lot of trial and error. I had to level up Cloud so he could withstand a hit from the Aero attack (1500+ Dam) and constantly heal with Hi-Potions until I could use Meteorain. It was all luck that I finally beat the damn thing. I'm currently in the Temple of the Ancients, just got all the items the clock had to offer and just got knocked off the clock so I can pick up the Nail Bat in the chest... I'm about to fight the enemy (can't remember the name) down there. I equipped the Gravity materia in place of the Restore in hopes of dropping its HP down quickly so I can beat it with a Meteorain. Not looking forward to the Red Dragon and Demons Gate but Ill let you all know how it goes. (BTW, I'd appritiate some info/feedback every now and then so I don't have to bribe ppl to post and bump it back up Ok the enemy killed me, two hits =\ scratch the Gravity. Oh also my master the Most Magnificent Celes Leonhart wants me to tell you to try a challange, as he wants to try one as well! Finally I got to disk 2 on my SCIE game, granted I did take a 2 month break from it but hey I'm still happy about it. Zidane gave me the info I needed to beat the jenova boss at the end of disk one (he gave me the location of the water ring acc which makes your char imprervious to all of jenovas att)

quote downgraded286One character throughout the game, say you wanted to do a cloud game, use only cloud, all others in your party should be koed. If you wanted to do a Cid game, pick a single char to use until you get cid in your party. Also, make sure you use multiple saves for your game, because these things take so much effort it is deviatating to accidently erase it, I know because I was working on just a reg game the other day and accidently saved over my SCIE game, lucally I had a back up save on my other card and only lost 2 or 3 hours of work, it still put me on the first disk again, but in the temple of the ancients so ill be back on the second disk shortly. I will put your no shops in the list. ------------------- Visit my Final Fantasy VII Challanges thread here If you want a more challenging game experience. | |

--SCIE Update--
This is an update on my SCIE game (im also giving the thread a slight boost Iv made it to the third disk, Right now Cloud is level 55. The first time i decended into the crater I got slaughtered, There are too many creatures that can kill you with one hit so I went to the Gold Saucer and got Clouds Lvl 4 limit break, and im going to go get Ribbon because I dont have one yet. For now Im just using vacseens (yes im a horrible speller, dont judge me) in place of the ribbon but iv found that it has a few loopholes, there are a few chances that you can be poisoned or bezerked and if that happens, because of the vacseen, you cant cure it (the frogs can turn you into a frog and that is espessially frustrating because you cant cure it). The two materia I use are Enemy Skill and HP plus. Magic breath is my major attack, and Big Guard works wonders. I may have to level up to 60 or so before i delve back in to the abyss so i can withstand some of the attacks, ill keep you all posted. ------------------- Visit my Final Fantasy VII Challanges thread here If you want a more challenging game experience. | |
