quote ThreadI follow SE pretty closely, especially when Final Fantasy anything is involved (even more "specially" when VII and remake are in the same sentence) The only official talk of a FFVII BY SE themselves are something along the lines of: "We would like to get the original team back together if possible." Nomura himself - "I know I would and I know some of the guys from the original team would love to do a remake, but right now, we do not have the time." Square-Enix probably knows what we want from a FFVII remake more than we think. I have confidence in them remaking FFVII, whether Hironobu Sakaguchi comes back or not. -------------------

quote dont think that would be such a good ideaI know they wouldn't do it. It is just my personal preference. I'd be more excited about a remake if design-wise it stuck closer to the original. quote Square-Enix probably knows what we want from a FFVII remake more than we think. I have confidence in them remaking FFVII, whether Hironobu Sakaguchi comes back or not.I can't help but have my worries when the company releases products like FF X-2 and FF VII:DoC. Those games along with FF VII:AC in my opinion were disapointments. Hyperstylized action with weak stories.

They forced a sequel with FFX-2. FFX is my favorite game and it ended beautifully, they did not have much to go on, but the girliness and weird plot were its downfall.
AC (and especially ACC) is doing (and probably going to be doing) pretty well. While I agree much with DoC, they said it was more of a experiment to try the shooting genre again. Final Fantasy Tactics: War of the Lions (remake) Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced 2 (sequel) ^ Both very successful games by Square Enix. With how good FFXIII and Versus is looking, they still got the touch. But with this, they are not trying to add on to story, the story is already there. It just needs 1. better graphics and 2. voice-overs, 3. with a little twitch on the battle system to up the speed. Any company can do the first two, and the third is optional (though highly recommended) and SE knows how to do battle systems. -------------------

I don't think it'd hurt too terribly bad to add more scenes.

I would like that as well, but they would have to be side-stories. cutscenes with Aerith and Cloud...Tifa and Cloud that only farther the investigation of which one he likes more. Scenes like that add appeal to many gamers.

just leaving the story as it is would be great but to cover the plot holes from the original have them link into the other games of the FF7 series, therefore making more sense to new gamers and creating less rage for the veterans (Also including Zack's final fight from CC in the flashback would fit in well)

IF the re-made FF7, It would either be exactly as it was with updated graphics and maybe some new side-quests.
OR they would competely re-do everything and maybe start it from a different time like right after Zack. Another battle system would be the pinnacle of change. If it was RE-made then they wouldn't do this, but if they re-vamped it completely I could see them using a faster system like in the vids of XIII ------------------- ![]()

One thing that bothered in CC is that there were many doors you couldn't enter. In FF7 you could pretty much go where you pleased, even if it was just a house you could look around, be disappointed when theres no items in the cabinets, etc. Little details like bathrooms in houses are important to me!
If they did a remake, I would like to see some creativity with some of Cloud's flashbacks and hints in disk one that Cloud is a little..off balanced? I think with upgraded graphics they could make these more subtle and interesting. Say when he goes to Nibelheim for the first time you see things that are not actually there, little hints that show that something is not right. As for Cloud's flashbacks, little things that might hint to the fact that Cloud's information is not completely reliable. But done in a way that maybe a first time player wouldn't pick up on or wouldn't pay attention to until the second time around. If that makes any sense?

Yeah, it seemed limited, and that's what made FF7 so great that you could travel all over the world, and the great part of using Chocobos so that you could climb mountains and walk out into the sea.
It would really open up to allot of mini quests! And I agree to that it wouldn't really fit in to bring in Angeal and Genesis etc, at most just see them peek their nose in, or leaving a room or have a role that doesn't interfere with the main story at all. I think it was ok with CC which was it's own story, but this is Clouds story, and he had nothing to do with those guys. But I would be open to a playable flashback where Cloud and Zack "play"! ^^P ------------------- ![]()

I would like to see everything redone. Just playing Final Fantasy VII makes me wonder why they haven't already made a remake. It would definatley become a best-seller. The only thing I can imagine would be a problem is if Crystal-Tools (the engine they use now) could replicate the systems of Final Fantasy VII.
As for the battle mechanics, Everything should stay the same. If they change it, then it's just going to feel too different. If they where going to make an announcement, I'd think that it would be somewhere around 3 to 5 months after Final Fantasy XIII has been released in all regions, as that would free-up some of the production teams. I would also go as far as to say that once FF13 reaches it's estimated sales target, they'd say something, because, wasn't it FF13 that stood in the way of a remake earlier? but that idea is kind of destroyed by the fact of Advent Children's extra scenes in Complete.. What i'd most look forward to in the remake is voice overs ------------------- ![]() ![]() Brawl: 2148-9574-9944

Yeah, I'm a bit torn there.
I think it's fun with the time turn battle (I prefer it no matter what), but I think it's fun to be able to run around as well like you do in Crisis Core. But one thing has been bugging me lately with games, that most games are turning "adventure" game. I'm not going to mention which game, cause it's maybe the only one that embarrasses me that I play! But that game has always been a 3D platform game; You can get hit 3 times before you loose a life, and to kill that enemy, you need to his it's head, and to kill that boss you need to crash into it's stomach and shoot him. But now that series has turned Adventure, that you have a lifebar, and different attacks has different strengths etc. I understand that a series want to improve themselves, but sometimes you but THAT series because you like THAT charm of it. XD; So what I'm trying to say is that I agree with you, they should keep the time turn battle system, it's part of what makes the series really. ._. ------------------- ![]()

a remake would be fantastic
I would just like to see: 1) inproved graphics - more beautiful landscape, an improved worldmap *yeah, a world map*, character design similar to that of KH 2)ore cutscenes showing the end of zacks life - in the original FF7 zack is mentioned but i was always confused by him and his involvement in the game, for new, 1st-time gamers, maybe this could be revised 3) voice actors id like all the rest to stay the same, that includes main story, mini-quests, materia system and battle system now if all that was too come true, FF7REmake would kick ass =) ------------------- Move, and the head comes off... What would really be a problem is that there are now somethings you can't get away with the graphics that most games have now. Like Cloud would have to wear his sword on his back when on the overworld map, just to make it more realistic that when a battle starts, he doesn't just pull a giant 2 hander out of his pockets.
Also, how they might remake the entire world would be different. FFVII uses pre-rendering for backgrounds, but most definatley the remake would have full 3D locations, so everything would be different. The positives of realtime battle usually means a rotatble field..so you can take a look at the action from all sides. It would be nice to be able to rotate the battlefield's camera angle in FFVII, as you could see every detail >_<. A (small) good example of why we need a remake is like when what's his name introduces ester. "she may look a bit weird but dont let her looks fool you" or something. You didn't get to see why she looked weird D: also, Who doesn't want to see Cloud in a dress ------------------- ![]() ![]() Brawl: 2148-9574-9944
