It's probably not the best of ideas to go onto a FFVII forum and post an article about how overrated FFVII is especially with a title like 'Games You Probably Like, But Shouldn't'.

I think it's funny how some people put so much devotion to tell people not to like a game. Really, when people says liking a game allot is a waste of time, then wth is this?

I knew he was going to praise that game before I scrolled down; you can always tell when people have a chip on their shoulder about FF7 and its success.

Actually, I get the feeling that this could be a joke, especially as he doesn't give a single criticism of FF7 itself, but old school fanboys are like fundamentalists; it's impossible to tell the serious from the satire. If it is a joke, it's a very good one.

You hit the nail on the head. I seriously don't get these people.
Perhaps that they played the entire series, following it step by step, and they thought 6 was the best game, then FF7 comes with it's enormous success, and so all the glory of FF6 was automatically gone?

It's like we should go to the FF8 forum and say it sucks because Sephiroth is much more bad-ass then Ultimecia (I hope I got the name right XD)

I never liked FFVI that much. The only thing I liked about Kefka was his laugh. Because his laugh is awesome win.

The problem I had with this is that it doesn't seem to review FFVII much at all, it seems to focus on the people who play it that the author described as 'fanboys'. Another problem I have with it is the title, it comes down to opinion, you can't just tell people they shouldn't like it.

I had that post lined up initially, and then I decided to read the actual article rather than being a tool. I'm glad I did.

Every single bit. Even the following note that Final Fantasy VI was better is just as true, and Final Fantasy VII is my favourite game. I'm pretty sure that the author doesn't actually believe that quote as apparent by the rest of the content, and it would be more appropriate if you removed the brackets and the words "like if not", instead making it

I think maybe you guys are doing like I almost did and not even bothering to read the article. His points consist of: Final Fantasy VII was great and should be a benchmark for modern games; the game is too often treated as the best game of all time and too many people pretend nothing will ever be as good - the pinnacle; Advent Children was good only for the point it was Final Fantasy VII related, otherwise it was good at best; Dirge of Cerberus was amateur; Squeenix are milking it because of the morons (me included) that will purchase anything with Final Fantasy VII in the title, and finally that VI is better. All of these are completely true.

I definitely think a lot of you guys are reading the article completely wrong, or with the same glasses you'll wear when you go to buy Advent Children Complete, watch it again and think it's the bomb, because he even admits the game is great.

Edit: Oh my god, just been quoted by one of the guys on their site! Haha, e-famous, rad!
