everytime i try to play the game on my comp, it goes to a blank screen after i select "new game." does anyone know how to fix this problem? i appreciate any and all help i can get. thanks.

There may not be anything you can do; Vista's notorious for compatibility problems with older software. I've run into serious issues running most of my XP-compatible software.

Try using this, and downloading the ff7 1.02 patch if you don't have it already (don't bother with the XP/1.4 patch; it's crap).
FF7 won't always play on Vista straight out of the box, but you should be able to play it perfectly with a little tweaking. -------------------  | |
