Feature RP Forum Rules |
|
Here are some of the ground rules for the Feature Roleplay Sub-forum.
In creation... 1- All inspired RPs must follow an aspect of originality. They may be founded from a previously created storyline, but can not directly follow it. An example would be: "Gandalf gave Frodo the One Ring, and he had to take it to Mordor." would not be accepted, while: "Gandalf must reach Frodo in time to deliver the One Ring to him before he himself is corrupted by its power." would be accepted. 2- All Rp's must have the Method of joining and a rating in the title line beside the Rp's own name. For the in depths list of ratings please refer to Here 3- Included within the introduction must be some form of the character information sheet shown below. Name: Your character's name Age: Your character's age Gender: Your character's gender Appearance: The appearance of your character/how he or she looks. Personality: The personality of your character. History: Your character's background and past. Other: Any extra information you may wish to add about your character. In participation... 1- Show courtesy to your fellow members when in a Rp. Allow time for others to post their portions and don't try rushing people along. Reserve double posting to emergencies. 2- Quality is a must. This forum is not to be an easy way to add to your post count. Please use proper grammar and punctuation when posting. And take careful notice that All posts must be at least seven lines long. 3- Respect fellow members. Flaming and/or turning RPs into a "get *insert member name here*" thread will not be tolerated. 4- Only join and participate in an RP if you are willing to take it seriously. Members put a lot of hard work into their RPs and you should respect that to a level that if you are going to participate in their RPs you will be willing to take their work seriously and remain committed to it. 5- The "Seven-Line Rule" The seven-line rule exists to assist in maintaining a level of quality and thought in role plays on NeoSeeker. The intent of the rule is to make players write at least seven lines of constructive, relevant material in each post. Seven lines means seven full lines of meaningful content. Many RPers are attempting to abide by the rule, but many others are either ignoring it or attempting to side-step it with cute little gimmicks. One word dialogue sentences or idiotic inserts such as "*laughs*" do not satisfy the intent of this rule. ::: The 12-Sentence/2 Paragraph rule ::: After taking notice of some rather unsavory starting post, it was decided that for the better of the forum, this rule should be passed. We are in no way trying to discriminate between members-- We are merely urging you to put a little more effort into your stories. I am sure it is more than a reasonable demand, on our part. Each story in your starting entry must be at least 12-Sentences/Two Paragraphs long. We will send warning if your entry does not meet this requirement, however, should you choose to ignore the warning, we will close your thread. Further abuse and disregard to our warning will, inevitably, result in a ban. If you have any questions at all, please direct them to either Amano Murokumo or Lei14 This message was edited by keiichi(moderator) on Feb 09 2005. Just a Note From Angel Hello everyone, I just thought I would say this as I have bee nfrequently venturing into here as of late to see that a lot of RP titles are very long. I want to point out that when making your RP cut the title of the thread to just the RP title, and the Rating along with the {PM} or {IO} or {No PM} Tag. Try and keep titles short and sweet so no one has to go in thread by thread to shorten them for you. Thanks. If there is anything you want in the little message thingy below the thread name, please get ahold of a moderator and tell them what you want in that little thread message thingy. Thanks again. Angel. ------------------- Angel in Shadows Been here to long, and back yet again. <3

A question I thought belonged in here.
For which screen size does the seven line rule count? Because I have a widescreen laptop (1280x800) and I can tell with certainty that 7 lines for me is a lot more than for someone on a non-widescreen (assuming that the average screensize is 1024x768). (probably should add that I usually post a lot more than that though, I was just wondering). ------------------- ![]()

The 7 line rule is a generality. It is used a as means of discouraging the posting of 'popcorn' style RP posts; i.e. very brief posts with little or no content, often consisting of nothing but a couple lines of conversation.
The rule is usually only enforced when it in violated en masse within a single RP, or when the same RPer violates the rule consistently.

There is nothing to prevent you from specifying the characters that will be active in your RP. However, I don't think I see the connection to the seven-line rule.

It is when you make your character "godly" in an RP, to the point where you dominate the other characters all the time.

Uh, what if you messed up the account you made a thread with, and the description, and the whole RP is crap, then you make another account, since the other's crap, and want to fix your RP up by starting over? hehe, I really dont get the point of the 7 line rules...or which box it's in. I cant tell if it's in the reply box, or the actuall screen, i have no clue!

re: Feature RP Forum Rules |
quote PinkSoftball322Well, depending on the situation, you can either get the original thread deleted after saving the info. from it and just make it again with the new account or you can write up the post in an application like MSword and ask the forum mod to copy and paste the update for you. quote PinkSoftball322From what I've been told it's more of a guideline than a specific rule, basically meaning use common sense when posting. If you think a post is too short, make it bigger. The main point of it is to make sure people don't make posts which are just quoteEdit: lol, I thought I read it in one of the rule threads. Keiichi explains the 7 line rule above. This message was edited by Tiger of Wu on May 03 2008. ------------------- ![]()
