I have cs1.6 and i was thinking of getting source... i just wanted to no wat the difference is and if it s worth the price..

Yea, source has better graphics, physics, and all that cool eye-candy stuff, but yea, like wut that guy above me said, gameplay is still in cs 1.6. Only get source when you get pro, cuz all the pro players are in source.

Only get source if you are a noob because all the beginners play that version. Most 1.6 players purchased this game when it was the only version available, therefore have experience at the game.

Source really messed up CS. Not sure if these still apply, but when I played there were some terrible changes like:

head stacking removed
smokes having delay before going off
recoil super easy to control
couldn't wall

I personally prefer 1.6, as said above the overall gameplay appeals way more than Source's. Source managed to mess up just about everything that's good about CS; wallbanging, recoil, hitboxes and since a short while they even managed to completely rape the whole buying menu due to their 'real time economics'. It's a good idea but destroyed the weapons' balance. Furthermore, I just don't like it's feel. In my opinion, 1.6 feels smoother, and yes, I do get a decent FPS on Source, I'm in the upper 50-60's in general with everything maxed out. Source's players are overall less experienced, less mature (doesn't apply to all of course) and just no fun to play with. I especially love how anyone with a half-decent score is automatically a hacker in their eyes.

There are actually professional leagues for Source. CAL-Invite and CEVO-Professional are still around. Good teams like Check-Six, Hyper!, amog many more are still active, and will be playing Source for quite some time.
I'm not defending this terrible game, just giving you some facts.

Well yeah, I didn't know the exact names but I did know there was a professional league. My point however is that it's practically non-existent in comparison, the skill is relatively lower and the price money isn't quite as high either. From what I've seen, 5k is a lot for a Source-team while a 1.6 team can get 20k on most tournaments, if not more.

1.6 is way better than Source who ever thinks Source is better than 1.6 is crazy!!!!!!!

i jst have cz(cs condition zero)and cs1.6 and i cant b arsed to buy source

CZ actually had some pretty cool looking weapon skins and the hit boxes were actually alot more accurate. Way better than Source.

Source is better for casuals and beginners, most hardcores play 1.6.

k i playd cs 1.6 for bout a year and it was MUCH HARDER then Source. wen i came 2 play source, headshots all ova. make sure that ur pc can run source2 cuz i know many ppl cant.

CS:1.6 is more of a competitive game and overall better than CS:S even though Source has better graphics is fairly easy to kill people though it lacks the better gameplay that CS:1.6 has.

Also it requires a good video card and graphics card to play, mainly a you need a pretty good computer to play CS:S while CS:1.6 you don't need that great of a CPU, but atleast have Cable Connection or you will be lagging as hell. Or heck get both for $20 at Steam-Powered.net or .com, but if you just want one and your a beginner head towards the CS:S.
